One of America's foremost experts on Islam says New York's decision to honor a Muslim holiday this weekend shows the city has not learned an important lesson from the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. His first statement here is blatantly incorrect. "New York" hasn't made any decision at all as far as the Empire State Building is concerned. The Empire State Building is a privately-owned building, and -- like it or not -- the owners of that building can do whatever the hell they want with their lighting.
I never thought I'd see the day when so-called "conservatives" would completely miss this point.

City officials say the lighting, which will continue through Sunday, "will become an annual event in the same tradition of the yearly lightings for Christmas and Hanukah."Apparently you read the article from a different perspective than did I. I would be interested to know what perspective you represent.
