The real 'ticking time bomb' is his combination of power politics and scary science.
Former Vice President Al Gore, who says he "used to be the next president of the United States," has won the Nobel Peace Prize for advancing scary half-truths, flat-out errors and politically inspired schemes about global warming. We congratulate Mr. Gore and hope it's some personal consolation.
Nevertheless, we're uninspired as Mr. Gore takes his place alongside Yasser Arafat and Kofi Annan, similarly honored with credentials of similar substance.

such a prize fits al gore about as well as the white house fits bill clinton.
at least they didn't give him the nobel prize for science...
To: lapsus calami
what a great piece. just when you think a person can’t get any slimier...he gives the prize to himself and looks like a hero doing it...s-c-u-m-b-a-g alert.
To: lapsus calami
sort of wonder what those “black baloons” are that are mentioned on the right side of that webpage...

he is NO peacemakerThe only peacemaker I know of was Harry Truman when he dropped 2 A bombs on some very badly led Japanese people.
I think the Nobel committee somehow forgot about him.

Why didn’t they give Gore a Science award? Maybe because his scientific background is nonexistent?

For all of Gore's later fascination with science and technology, he often struggled academically in those subjects. The political champion of the natural world received that sophomore D in Natural Sciences 6 (Man's Place in Nature) and then got a C-plus in Natural Sciences 118 his senior year. The self-proclaimed inventor of the Internet avoided all courses in mathematics and logic throughout college, despite his outstanding score on the math portion of the SAT. As was the case with many of his classmates, his high school math grades had dropped from A's to C's as he advanced from trigonometry to calculus in his senior year.

Sure Albore won the nobel peace prize, but just last year, (or was it the year before?) I was the Time "person of the year".
It said "you" right on the cover, and I was the only one there reading it, so logically it must have meant me.

The Nodel Silly Prize Committee gave Gore the prize because he bashed the US. Remember, they gave Arafat, the Islamic terrorist, the prize in 1994.

Perhaps carbon indulgences would be a more appropriate name.

My congradulations to your nephew also. Al Gore winning that peace prize was a joke.

Maybe this bunch uses black hot air balloons in lieu of the black helicopters to surveil adversaries with. More eco-friendly ya know, than all those Blackhawk helos belching out "Green house gases" by the ton.
Seriously, it's an ad campaign evidently intended to lay a guilt trip on consumers. Pretty neat special effects, too bad it's wasted on something like this. Voice-over is by Tommy Lee Jones - too bad he's caught up in this, I've always really liked the guy.

Yep - I do recall reading/hearing about that tidbit once upon a time. I just didn't think Jones would go that far with the Goreon, in being a active participant at propagating junk science and fraud on a global scale.
