The principle that there is a presumption of innocence in favor of the accused is the undoubted law, axiomatic and elementary, and its enforcement lies at the foundation of the administration of our criminal law -- U.S. Supreme Court, Coffin v. United States [1895].
Was [there] enough evidence to find that they were not guilty? -- ABC News, Matter of Martin Lee Anderson [2007].Forget that musty old 19th-century Supreme Court stuff. According to ABC, there's a new legal standard in criminal cases; at least those in which the MSM has a rooting interest. Henceforth, the presumption of innocence in such cases is abolished. There shall be a presumption of guilt, and the burden will be on the accused to produce enough to acquit himself.
KATE SNOW: Gina [Jones, Martin Lee Anderson's mother], this was an all-white jury. Do you think if the make-up of the jury had been different, that you would be talking about a different verdict this morning?
GINA JONES: Maybe, yes.
SNOW: Maybe, but you're not sure.
JONES: Yes.
SNOW: Do you think there was enough evidence to find that they were not guilty?
JONES: No.Interestingly, while the oh-so-sophisticated Snow apparently doesn't grasp the rudiments of our justice system, the boy's father did. His immediately following response clearly reflected his recognition that the burden of proof lay on the prosecution.
ROBERT ANDERSON: There was enough evidence [to convict]. It was right there in black and white. I mean, what else did you need, a rocket scientist to figure it out? All the evidence in the world, and they still came back with this not-guilty crap.
ABC turns presumption of innocence upside down. Ping to Today show list.
They must be using Toobin for legal consultation.
I have yet to see ANY law based story reported correctly.

Ever since the OJ trial, at least, the Media (FNC - with their gaggle of female ex-prosecutors who, apparently, either never heard of ‘due process’, or, at best dismiss it as an irrelevancy, - being the worst offender) has abandoned any pretense of ‘Presumption of Innocence’.....
The media ‘howling pack’ offends, and frightens, me....

This also reminds me of President Brodhead of Duke (an educated man, a university president, to boot), saying that he hoped for a trial in which the accused Duke lacrosse players would have a chance to ‘prove their innocence’.
I guess an accusation these days is enough for guilt; and you’d better be able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you didn’t commit the crime, otherwise, you’re toast.

Martha Stewart/Scooter Libby/Michael Jackson/OJ/any number of ‘suspects’ in the Aruba case/that Atlanta security guard/the anthrax scientist (names are escaping me at the moment, but you catch my drift, I hope) -— the list of victims of media lynch parties is endless...
Yeah, they have it upside down...but if you can watch the FULL video..and find these officers had no part in this boys death....then feel free to send your own kids to places like this.
Here’s the full video....the one they had to get a court to make the sheriff give over...

Morons.
I suspect this was not deliberate. These people are biased, but their bias is exceeded only by their gross ignorance.
Sorry, Jeb didn’t settle, Charlie Crist did.

and whom does charlie work for?
I’m a resident of the area and I must say we are all relieved that the boot camp employees were found not guilty. The kid died of ammonia inhalation due to his sickle cell disease. The boot camps aren’t pretty and there is much debate on the effectiveness, but I don’t believe the kid was murdered.
Thanks for the post, I have nothing to contribute except to say that I believe the court decision is correct and the news media has failed it’s listeners once again.
did they deliberalty kill the kid?....er....duh.....no
did they inadvertanlty cause his death?
watch the vid and decide...
negligent homicide?....you bet...
if those guys didnt have badges...they would have been guilty.
we’re all equal....cops are just a little more equal..
