A man convicted of causing a crash on Pacific Coast Highway that killed the director of "A Christmas Story'' and his son is scheduled to be sentenced today.
Hector Manuel Velazquez-Nava faces a six-year state prison term.
Velazquez-Nava pleaded no contest to two counts of manslaughter in August in the deaths of Robert Clark and his son, Ariel Hanrath-Clark.
Authorities said Velazquez-Nava, an illegal immigrant, had a blood-alcohol content of .24 -- three times the legal limit.
Here in Houston a sitting judge’s 20-year old daughter just got 120 days in jail for killing her boyfriend in a car crash while driving with a BA 3 times the legal limit for an adult (all minors who’ve been drinking are guilty of DUI in Texas).
I saw another story on FR about a illegal alien piece of scum who drove drunk and killed a guy and got four years. The AH in this story killed two people and got six years. Ramos and Compean got what, ten, eleven years?
Americans have become disposable, while illegals are precious and valuable.
The fact that he is illegal bothers me, but that crime is in a different league from driving drunk.
We have plenty of home-grown idiots driving with legal, suspended or revoked licenses (or no license at all!) who think nothing of drinking, getting to a car and playing Russian roulette with human lives.
And while I understand that nobody means to kill innocent people in a car accident, when you drink and drive you have to assume responsibility for the consequences.
This illegal alien can rot in jail along with legal aliens and naturalized citizens and natural born Americans who have made the same tragic choice.
There are former DAs who created the tests who now work as defense attorneys fighting the results of these tests.
This is a nearly intractable problem as are all the laws against drug addicts who steal to support their habits.
Prison is just not a long-term option because of the nature and history of the law.
No state requires a driver’s license to buy a car or the supplies to keep it running.
Thats one way to look at it.
The other is we are sure Mr Clark, his son, and thousands upon thousands of Americans killed by drunk driving illegal aliens over the past 20 or so years would be alive if we enforced our immigration laws.
Now there’s an ulterior motive for ya. That’s probably at the bottom of the whole thing.
Out here in California one-bill Gil Cedillo is always trying to pass a law to get drivers licenses for illegals. But every time I’ve been to the DMV there are always plenty of hispanics there who don’t speak English (pretty good indication they’re illegals) getting what? Drivers licences? Vehicle registrations? IDs? I’ve always wondered how many of them end up registered to vote.
If you have motor voter, probably all. All they need to do is check a box on the form and it’s done. at least here in NY.
Just committing a crime that no American would commit.
With the help of the Mexican Consulate Hector will be spirited out of the country in a heartbeat.
“Six years for two lives.”
So, if he killed a member of my family, and I blew his brains out, I should only get three years? Something to think about.
Just make sure your blood alcohol level is at least .24.
