SHREVEPORT, La. -- Two judges from northwestern Louisiana face racketeering charges for allegedly taking bribes, according to a federal indictment made public Thursday.

State District Judge Michael Walker, 57, of Shreveport is accused of taking cash or goods in exchange for reducing bonds, making himself available to quickly set bonds and taking other actions helping criminal suspects or people held for probation violations get out of jail.

Caddo Parish Juvenile Court Judge Vernon Claville, 56, in the same indictment, is accused of taking cash in exchange for helping remove blocks to juvenile defendants getting released.

Both judges are accused of accepting bribes from Larry N. Williams, 41, also charged in the indictment. Williams is identified as a licensed bail bondsman and owner of A-Instant Bail Bond company in Shreveport.

The indictment outlines 24 specific criminal acts. If convicted, each man faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, according to U.S. Attorney Donald Washington's office.

Walker did not immediately respond to a telephone message left at his office seeking comment. A woman in Claville's office said he would have not comment.

A message seeking comment also was left at Williams' business office.

Hmmmm. Party affiliation isn't mentioned in the headline, that reduces the likelihood they are Republicans.

It's not mentioned in the first paragraph, probably not Republicans.

2nd and 3rd paragraphs....nothing. Probably Democrats.

No mention in the whole article, definitely Democrats.

You say they are democrats. Now, I am NOT doubting you, but I am not from Louisiana. How do I prove they are democrats? Do judges have to run for the bench as Party members? Do these two judges have a website that says they are dems?

I have looked and cannot find anything that says they are dems. If you are closer to their area, could you help direct me to something reliable that states their party affiliation?

I really appreciate your help in advance on this.

Thanks
