BRANDON - Some of the best-known national leaders in the religious right movement have converged on a Brandon church this weekend for a conference to discuss gay rights issues, Islam, abortion, and other issues from what they call the "culture wars."

>> The event is provoking protests from local gay rights groups, starting with a news conference Thursday and a vigil by protesters expected today, the last day of the event.

The Family Impact Summit at Bell Shoals Baptist Church includes speakers very familiar to religious and social conservative movement members - Don Wildmon, founder of the American Family Association; Gary Bauer, past president of the Family Research Council, and Tony Perkins, its current president; Ken Blackwell, former Ohio secretary of state; and others.

Harris Makes An Appearance It also included one of the first public appearances by Katherine Harris, former Florida secretary of state and U.S. House member, since her unsuccessful Senate candidacy last year. She spoke on the need for political involvement by religious people.

Asked whether she's likely ever to seek public office again, Harris suggested she's happy to be out.

"You never say never, but right now I thank God for unanswered prayers," she said, referring to her loss last year to Sen. Bill Nelson.

The magnitude of the event is a measure of the growing importance of Florida and the Tampa Bay area in national politics, organizers said.

They said it is also a signal that the religious and social conservative movement, although it has faced political setbacks recently, is not giving up on influencing American politics and current affairs.

"This is a very remarkable assembly of national social conservative leaders," said Bill Bunkley of Tampa, a lobbyist and political commentator on a local Christian talk radio station. "It's amazing. It's just another sign of the importance of the I-4 corridor and state of Florida."

Several of those involved gave credit for recruiting the speakers to Terry Kemple, a Bell Shoals Baptist member and founder of a local community action group that unsuccessfully opposed a bikini bar in Brandon.

He said the purpose of the event is to inform local social conservatives and inspire them to do political and civic work in the community. <<

Katherine Harris is out of politics, but not out of The Conservative Cause!

Naturally the homosexuals and other Leftwing-Liberal goons hate her and us on The Right.

No matter, as long as she is back and strong- I wonder when her next book will be published ?

Of course they’re gonna proest us, we stand up for the Word of God.

It seems these people are filled with evil, and are diametrically opposed to Christianity: Go figure..

“of course the’re gonna protest us, we stand up for the Word Of G-d.”

Katherine Harris; a beautiful lady with intelligence, intestinal fortitude and faith. (a lovely combination)

From Wikipedia:

Harris graduated from Bartow High School in Bartow, Florida in 1975, and then attended Spain’s University of Madrid in 1978. Harris received a bachelor of arts degree in history from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia in 1979, and then studied under Christian theologian Francis Schaeffer at the L’Abri community in Huemoz, Switzerland, not far from Lausanne. While in college she was an intern for U.S. Representative Andy Ireland. Harris received a mid-career masters degree in public administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government in 1997 with a concentration in international trade. Before entering politics, Harris was a marketing executive at IBM and a vice president of a commercial real estate firm.

Granted, I have never thought any graduate of the Kennedy School of Government had anything positive added to their resume by going there, but she has to be smart enough to know at least two other languages (German and Spanish) to study at foreign universities...

As Ann Coulter often says...just being conservative is enough to get you labeled as dumb and stupid by liberals and the MSM, and that stuff propagates whether true or not.

Yes, indeed most of them are!

Many of these goons of the lib-left are from San Francisco,
that is where you find the Neo-Pagans like the late Anton Szandor LaVey and other Devil Worshippers.

Beyond that, these tinker-bells are always whining about something, like that youtube weirdo Chris Crocker, they need to be heard.

Wrong vetsvette, wrong !

She is a Harvard Grad and was an executive at IBM’s Florida office .

Katherine’s mistake was to allow her headstrong pride to steer her into a Senate race she could not have won!
That and other gaffes that the The ‘Crats and their stooges in the Liberal Mass Media, both in Florida and in Nuke York used againt her in misogynistic ways.

You got this from Wikipedia ?
Strange, when I went there a couple years ago to do research on her, their info was this axe job that looked like it was created by monkey-boys Begala and Carville themselves- or else the Daily Kos & Wonkette crowd .

“Katherine’s mistake was to allow her headstrong pride to steer her into a Senate race she could not have won!”

Katherine’s mistake was letting me hear her try to put together a cogent thought and a meaningful sentence.

And where did you hear this?

If you heard/saw it on YouTube, may I remind you that most of the postings there are from the Daily Kos and Wonkette crowd.
They love to misquote and MIS-EDIT words and speeches of Conservatives.
They do it to Ann Coulter all of the time.

By the by, what do you think of Ann’s interview with Donny Deutch the other day ? ? ? ?

“By the by, what do you think of Ann’s interview with Donny Deutch the other day ? ? ? ?”

I haven’t heard it nor have I seen a full transcript. All I’ve seen was the Media Matters summary, which is certain to be either a gross distortion or a fabrication.
