I know there's a tongue in cheek component to her comments, but in the end I see it all as simply self-promotion and attention-seeking.

Quite frankly sometimes I feel like I'd like to slap her.

I know all about Xtian conversions. When I was "baptized", I was given a free hamburger and hot dog. I didn't really believe in xtianity, I was just hungry and it was a hot day.

They were begging for me to get baptized.

Now I find the life of the Noachian philosophy is the life for me because I don't really have to do any ceremonies to convert. I just follow them and I live my life. So far, so good.

Alter Kaker said, “You “love” Jews...but wish they didn’t exist. Gotcha...”

I have christian love for criminals, but I wish they weren’t criminals. I have christian love for muslims, but I wish they were not muslims. I have christian love for all humanity (regardless of faith), but I wished that they knew/understood the life saving power of Jesus Christ. It’s not a matter of “wishing that they didn’t exist”. Surely you can reason better than that. It’s a matter of them embracing the truth, which -but they way- does not imply their non-existence.

As a Christian I firmly believe that all people should become Christians.

If I didn't believe that, I would not be a Christian.

Degrading another person’s belief system is something very different.

So would you sing the praises of the Muslim belief system? How about a degrading the liberal belief system? You do know that liberalism is a religion, don't you? Have you ever degraded that belief system?

“Do the Jews believe that YHWH told Christians to worship Jesus and that this is in harmony with the first commandment?”

Your question assumes Jews are unified in their beliefs as to Christianity -— a seriously false assumption.

Most Jewish theologians view Christianity as acceptable worship of YHWH for non-Jews -— although you are correct they generally reject the Holy Spirit and Jesus as unecessary “helpers.” Moses Maimonides (the “Rambam”) is one such scholar, and he wrote about this at length, struggling with the issue on both sides for most of his life. His writings are, by far, the most informative on these issues.

I refer you to his writings, as he was much more informed (and clear) than I, a mere New Mexico red neck.

There ARE ALSO Jewish theologians who take your view that, if Jesus was not divine, the Christian Trinity is polytheistic, and improper for any person.

Rambam came to his conclusion that the divinity (or non divinity, in his opinion) of Jesus was not important because (in his view, and, in fact the view of many Christian theologians) Christians don’t “worship Jesus.”

Before you freak out -— think about the Book of Hebrews, and the high priest position Jesus assumes.

Rambam decided that, because of the theology set forth in the Book of Hebrews, Christians technically worship God the Father by-and-through Jesus, as a permanent high priest. The Holy Spirt is “merely” (merely! — not quite right word here) God’s soul coming forward to Christians -— and an mere (mere! again) aspect of the One God, much like steam is an aspect of water.

Rambam’s writings helped me (a Christian, albeit a bad one, but I do accept the divinity of Jesus as the Christ) get some sort of handle on the Trinity, which I do not profess to really understand.

“So would you sing the praises of the Muslim belief system?”

Islam is a cult, not a religion - I was referring to religions.

“How about a degrading the liberal belief system? You do know that liberalism is a religion, don’t you?”

No, its a mental disorder.

THis is one of the most innocuous things Ann has ever said.
Your comprehension is about as deep as a bottle cap, and on a level with that sterling intellect, Donny Deutsch.
I guess an exhortation to “read it again” would do no good, you’re one of those people who need to be offended.

I have christian love for criminals, but I wish they weren’t criminals.

So your "love and admiration" for Jews is entirely analogous to your "love and admiration" for common criminals?

Now please explain how you expect a person of the Jewish persuasion to interpret that post.

It’s not a matter of “wishing that they didn’t exist”.

No it is. If a criminal converts to christianity, he's still a criminal. But if a Jew converts to Christianity, he's no longer a Jew. If you want all Jews to convert, then you want Jews to disappear. It's a really simple concept, and one you can't really dance around.

Go watch the actual interview. She was not insulting that poor man. She was debating him and he got angry ,she was then taken aback by his hostility and looked for a way to end it on a friendly note. At the end she shakes her head in bewilderment at his anger.

disclaimer, I am not a Coulter fan.

If you are Jewish, your belief system says you must sacrifice an animal to get forgiveness. How many sacrifices have you done? How many sacrifices has the Jewish nation performed since Jesus was crucified or the Temple was destroyed? Why haven't they rebuilt the Temple if you believe this practice is necessary? Even observant Jews don't adhere to all the Commandments of God. Calling yourself Jewish is more a cultural or racial idea than a religious one. Have all the Jews since the Temple was destroyed gone to Hell?

Jews believe no such thing, and the Bible very explicitly states that, after the destruction of the Temple, Jews could have their sins forgiven by prayer and repentance.

You seem awfully comfortable going to hell.

You seem awfully comfortable deciding who is going to go there.

If you are Jewish, your belief system says you must sacrifice an animal to get forgiveness.

There are several pretty serious theological errors with this.

1. Judaism, unlike Christianity, is not predicated on forgiveness. That's a pretty serious distinction. In Protestant Christianity, you just need to confess or repent (depending on the brand) your sins, accept Jesus as your "savior" and you're immediately forgiven. That makes Christianity a relatively easy religion. You can be the worst murderer in the world and you can still go to heaven as long as you repent some time before the end. Judaism is a little more complicated...Jews have a much more complex understanding of righteousness and sin, forgiveness and atonement.

2. Animal sacrifice was only the form of atonement prescribed for a fairly small subset of sins. As animal sacrifice is no longer possible (as is true for other Temple rituals), we must pray for forgiveness, especially in the aseret y'mei teshuva, the period of prayer and forgiveness incorporating Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

3. The Temple has not been rebuilt, because the Temple can only be built with direct instructions from prophets, and most likely won't happen until the coming of the Messiah.

4. Even observant Jews don't adhere to all the Commandments of God.

While that's true, there's no requirement that you must live a sinless life to have your name written in the book of life. One can be righteous without being sinless.

Calling yourself Jewish is more a cultural or racial idea than a religious one.

That just demonstrates your ignorance, and is probably not a succesful strategy. Disagree with Jewish theology if you'd like, but don't deny its existence.

But if a Jew converts to Christianity, he's no longer a Jew.

Consider the so-called "Messianic Jew". Specifically consider those descended from the 12 tribes, who happen reverently observe Jewish holidays, avoids pork, always honors the Sabbath and so forth. The only difference being that they accept Jesus as the Christ and Son of God.

Now consider the so-called "Modern Jew". Specifically one descended from the 12 tribes, who used to observe some of the holidays as a kid and still has a "soft spot" for them. Who appreciates the fact that his ancestors didn't eat pork, but who really likes bacon. Who will occasionally use the Sabbath as a half hearted excuse to his wife to avoid mowing the lawn. And who not only does not believe that the Messiah has come yet, but is not really sure he believes in all that prophecy stuff anyway, yet is too kind to voice such an opinion for the hurt it might do his dear mother.

Who has stopped being a Jew?

Who has stopped being a Jew?

Well, technically, both are Jews.

But the Christian-convert is an apostate, whereas the pork-eating secularist, while clearly not obeying the Commandments isn't, assuming he adheres to the 13 principles of faith.
