Slash-and-burn columnist Ann Coulter shocked a cable TV talk-show audience Monday when she declared that Jews need to be "perfected" by becoming Christians, and that America would be better off if everyone were Christian.
Coulter made the remarkable statements during an often heated appearance to promote her new book on advertising guru Danny Deutsch's CNBC show "The Big Idea."
In response to a question from Deutsch asking Coulter if "it would be better if we were all Christian," the controversial columnist responded: "Yes."
"We should all be Christian?" Deutsch repeated.
"Yes," Coulter responded, asking Deutsch, who is Jewish, if he would like to "come to church with me."
Deutsch, pressing Coulter further, asked, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians?" She responded: "Yeah."
Coulter deflected Deutsch's assertion that her comments were anti-Semitic, matter-of-factly telling the show's obviously upset host, "That is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews."

I will agree with you that her transition was poor. I didn’t think the “republican convention”/”they’re christian” bit was good at all, but it didn’t seem to be what people were complaining about. I agree I’d rather not equate “Republican Party” with any of the talk show hosts, much less Ann Coulter.
But tonight I frankly decided (after spending a week fighting people here and elsewhere who took the frost family story too far) that I just don’t want to be held responsible for everything anybody who votes the way I do does. Nor should the Republican Party be held responsible for every act of a blogger or talk show host or opinion columnist who generally supports them.
I’m just too tired of all the fighting, and want it to stop. I remember the good old days when elections were something that happened one day a year or two, and my only concern was to remember to show up and vote.
Now I’ve got politicians calling me all the time, as if it’s MY job to get them elected. Well, I’m not paid well enough for that job. If they want to get elected, they can figure out how to make people love them. Every time I try to invest in one, they dissappoint me, or stab me in the back.
That’s true. Whenever I go to a large gathering of Christians, I see all manner of ethnic groups represented and all loving each other and having a great time! Ann is right.
After my first and second heart attacks, I began thinking the same way. I try to do what good I can and I’ve begun taking all my photos, putting them into my computer and marking them as to who they are, making photo albums for my children and nieces and nephews, and writing a family history. Now, I’ve got to clean out that cellar! Arghhhhh. I don’t want to leave any stones unturned. I’ve begun e-mailing all my nieces and nephews and grandchildren and trying to get them to know one another. Family is so important and ours is scattered. Most of the kids hardly know each other. In the end, God and Family are the only important things in life. They’re the ones you need to love and care for. I wish you the best.
I’m not Catholic, but I feel the same way as you. My one son has come back to Christ, I’m waiting on a second one whose life is a shipwreck, and my third is a Bahai. I’m really praying for these guys. My knees hurt (LOL).
We are born with a sinful nature. We sin in thought and in deed and yes, we can prevent a lot of it, but when we sin we are still Christian, saved by grace, and able to nullify the sin by seeking God’s face for forgiveness. He tells us if we confess our sins, He will forgive us our sins. We’re still Christians, however.

Jews believe God’s name is so holy that they aren’t supposed to write it out.
And so do we, dear one.
I think we Christians know what’s ahead for us. We do read the Bible and we do believe the prophecies that are told there. This is no surprise to any of us. God has promised to be with us through trials and tribulations and He will be with us then, when we have to go through some things we certainly never wanted to. And we can still have the peace that passes all understanding when we go through them. I will pray for that peace for you, too, dear Brian.
Huh? I read your words and don’t understand them. That IS a religious belief, that people will be better happier people if their Christians. By extension, the whole nation would be better off if many of its citizens were better off.
I don’t grasp how that’s a secular statement, nor do I grasp how it is an insult to Jews, nor do I grasp how it impugns our great Jewish Americans.
Please explain.
