Ann Coulter Shocks Cable TV Show, Declaring 'Jews Need to Be Perfected by Becoming Christians'

Slash-and-burn columnist Ann Coulter shocked a cable TV talk-show audience Monday when she declared that Jews need to be "perfected" by becoming Christians, and that America would be better off if everyone were Christian.

Coulter made the remarkable statements during an often heated appearance to promote her new book on advertising guru Danny Deutsch's CNBC show "The Big Idea."

In response to a question from Deutsch asking Coulter if "it would be better if we were all Christian," the controversial columnist responded: "Yes."

"We should all be Christian?" Deutsch repeated.

"Yes," Coulter responded, asking Deutsch, who is Jewish, if he would like to "come to church with me."

Deutsch, pressing Coulter further, asked, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians?" She responded: "Yeah."

Coulter deflected Deutsch's assertion that her comments were anti-Semitic, matter-of-factly telling the show's obviously upset host, "That is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews."

You’re only 5 years older than my daughter and I can’t convincer her or her husband that things matter, that t.v. is not where’s at, that church is important.

My parents didn’t take me to church. It took a long time for me to understand and accept Christ. It angers me that public schools get away with this stuff when I pay the same taxes as someone who’s got kids in school and I don’t approve of these things. The curriculum ought to be open to public discussion since the public pays for it.

If my school district decides they don’t want kids putting condoms on bananas, then we should be able to say so.

I had a friend that was a Jew who believed in Jesus as I do. I once called him a Christian and he pleasantly corrected me. He was still a practicing Jew, he just believed that Christ was the son of God and believed that salvation came through his death on the cross.

At the time, I didn’t really understand his point but there is a Rabbi on the local christian station and I have heard him describe what it means to be a Jew that believes in Christ. I think I am finally starting to get it.

Christian is a description of someone that had no relationship with God and becomes adopted through the death of Christ.

Jews have had a relationship with God for thousands of years. The have been the bearers of the word of God and the remnant that God always preserves for his purpose. When they accept Christ as the savior, it does not change their relationship with God like it did for me. They were already family.

My parents did take me to church (Catholic church), and it was such an empty and excruciating experience I attended church only once, voluntarily, in the 20+ years since my confirmation. I find nothing of substance in the dogma of church, in the petty squabbles and intrigues of parish life, in the tongue-clucking and finger-pointing that accompany human imperfection, including my own. Where I found God again was, of all places, in the woods, so I really don't care what happens with regards to religion in the public square. I am positive that God exists, and that He loves us. Everything else is flotsam and jetsam.

Given the history of forced conversion being foisted on Jews at various times, you’ll have to forgive us for not appreciating what she says.

This is America, not Nazi Germany - or Russia. Evangelical Christians, by definition, believe Jews should convert to Christianity. However, Evangelicals also have a long history of believing ONLY free and willing conversions have any meaning. If you read the full transcript, I think you will agree that there was NO indication she believed Jews should be forced to renounce Judaism.

But it is certainly true that her comments reflect traditional evangelical thought - which surprises me, since she so rarely behaves like an evangelical.

The democRATs don't look at things that way. They will energize their base by making conservatives look idiotic. If in the process, they can succeed in changing the conversation from their own greed and corruption to angry patter about religion and Ann Coulter they have taken some momentum away from the conservatives who are in a fight for their political lives.

I have to say this again. This is an organized attack and a well planned strategy. It smells of the Clintons big time. As much as some people love their own team (ie. Christians), it is necessary to save ammuntion and fire it at the real enemy. There must have been other topics discussed in her interview. They have been ignored here. Successfully ignored much to our cost.

The democRATs have no ideas. We would reject them out of hand if they really stated the socialist path they desire. Conservatives have to change the conversation back to the slimy deals of the Clintons, Hsu, Chinese money, the attacks on our military and more.

Yes, I agree that she didn’t advocate forced conversions, but I did get the feeling that her Republican party is primarily a Christian organization and that Jews aren’t particularly welcome — unless we wish to subordinate ourselves.

I doubt it. That would be like the Pharisees warning the crowds about the Words of Jesus, while the warning might be justified in the minds of the Pharisees, (or present day rabbis), invoking such words or thoughts in any context could provoke some to actually consider what has been suggested.

The Spirit of God works in wonderfully mysterious ways like that.

Christians study the old law, The Old Testament, and how the old law contrasts, predicts, and is synergistic with the new law, The New Testament. Christians study both books and many have for decades...not just one year..Does the Jew study the New Testament or do they declare it heresy? If the New Testament is heresy then the Jew should really consider how false Islam is since it was written 800 years post New Testament. Revelation 22:18-20...Jews and Christians share a common belief at least and should have knowledge of each other's basic faith. Ann did not try to proselytize, she just stated a Christian belief with respect to what Jesus taught and is verified in the New Testament. Her statements should not in any way be offensive to Jews when two are discussing doctrine unless someone is looking for a reason to be offended and wears their chip on the shoulder, as did Danny Deutch.

Only God decides who gets into heaven, don’t get me wrong.

God provided a way for man to get into heaven, but individuals decide for themselves whether or not they will go to heaven:

3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." (John 3:3)

and

18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (John 3:18)

God provided a way for man to reconcile with Him and spend eternity with Him. It is up to each person to decide whether or not to take that gift and accept God's way. Each person decides his or her own destiny.

I certainly object, and have objected, to both concepts.

And it's clear that a great many freepers who would be offended by the comment that America would be a better country if Christians converted to Islam consider the comment that America would be a better country if American Jews converted to Christianity just fine. And we're talking about imporving the country, not saving individual souls here.

Next step, Catholics vs Protestants. Seems to me this is a rather Eurocentric mindset, something we left behind in founding this nation.
