Given the history of forced conversion being foisted on Jews at various times, you’ll have to forgive us for not appreciating what she says.

This is America, not Nazi Germany - or Russia. Evangelical Christians, by definition, believe Jews should convert to Christianity. However, Evangelicals also have a long history of believing ONLY free and willing conversions have any meaning. If you read the full transcript, I think you will agree that there was NO indication she believed Jews should be forced to renounce Judaism.

But it is certainly true that her comments reflect traditional evangelical thought - which surprises me, since she so rarely behaves like an evangelical.

That sounds unAmerican.

Yes, I agree that she didn’t advocate forced conversions, but I did get the feeling that her Republican party is primarily a Christian organization and that Jews aren’t particularly welcome — unless we wish to subordinate ourselves.
