Rice Questioning Israeli Strike in Syria

(IsraelNN.com) American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has questioned whether Israeli intelligence information on Syria that was presented to the Bush administration was sufficient enough to justify a strike in the northern part of the country. In what American media have billed as "one of the worst kept secrets," the IDF apparently bombed a shipment of nuclear warheads and may have killed North Koreans who were working with the Syrian government.

The New York Times reported Wednesday that Vice President Dick Cheney thinks the Israeli information was credible but that Secretary Rice is against a change in her diplomatic policies with North Korea. She has backed economic aid to North Korea in return for its halting nuclear development, but more hawkish officials have cited the Israeli information as proof that North Korea cannot be trusted. Israel reportedly struck Syria despite her opposition.

If you ever visit the state department never drink the water there. Everyone who does suffers from very bad mental disorders eventually.

It's nice to see sovereignty in action.

Another shocking lie from the media... the silence from both Israel and Syria was deafening for many days following the attack.

Just remember, Condi, it's going to be kind of tough to play Brahms if we're ever nuked. And we know how much you like playing Brahms. So try rooting for our side for a change, okay?

Oh sure. Have we learned nothing? We'll just believe anything written in some newspaper. It's not like they would quote anyone out of context...(or in this case not even bother quoting). So they say Condi questioned the evidence... no quote. Who they quote is someone called "American media"... and now it's a shipment of nuclear warheads. Oh who cares all we know is that Condi is bah...bah...bad because the NY Times says so??? Uh huh.

the IDF apparently bombed a shipment of nuclear warheads

This is the first I've seen mentioned of 'bombs', I've seen 'nuclear materials' and I've seen 'nuclear related' items, but not the word 'bomb' anywhere.

While I have no doubts that some form of material was destroyed by Israel, I am not really sure 'bombs' would be believable.

Nukes are pretty finicky to manufacture in a readily transportable configuration, especially for a low rent country like NK. Unless the basic components are kept separately, degradation starts almost immediately.

We are in the process of modernizing our arsenal because some of the components are 10+ years old.

They seem like they have their own little kingdom there. A lot of Bush haters I'll bet. Next republican president should fire anyone above the rank of worker bee.

>> Condi is joining the dark side.

She’s smart. But, she’s an academic, not an executive. And she has a huge ego.

W put her in charge of the diplomatic “hammer”... so, to her, everything now looks like a diplomatic “nail”.

I sorta wish W had made her SecDef; I bet she’d have employed the same attitude using the military “hammer”.

It doesn’t help that Foggy Bottom is a Clintoon cesspool, either...

She has backed economic aid to North Korea in return for its halting nuclear development,

She [Dr. Rice] is turning into Maddie 'the maid' Albright. Albright sent $$$ to NK for them to stop their nuclear development. NK cashed the checks, but they didn't stop the nuclear development we discovered AFTER Maddie was no longer SecState. If Dr. Rice thinks they will stop the development for her, she may need to consider retirement.
