Federal forecasters say La Niña has arrived. That could mean still more storms this hurricane season.
The La Niña weather system, created by a cooling of the eastern Pacific Ocean, reduces wind shear. That helps storms to build.

“What happened to all of those Hurricanes that were supposed to happen this year. Or is the Rovian Halliburton Hurricane machine out for repairs???”
And remember how last year was going to be one of the worst ever? Nothing.
Cry wolf much? How are we supposed to accept these scientists word that climate change is happening and is going to be devastating over the next 100 years when they can’t even get the 5 month hurricane season right?
I’m pretty sure that we’re all going to die.
They’d better hurry up. Hurricane season is over soon.
Yeah, it ends in just 7 weeks!
Is there an “OMG ITEOTWAWKI” ping list?
No doubt the lib media lie machine will start claiming that with the shift of control in the Congress to the Dems, and the abandonment by Bush of his opposition to global warming regulation, the danger is now passed, and the hurricanes are subsiding.
...or they MAY not.
I’m convinced it’s the media—mainly TeeVee. They breathlessly hype anything they can—a la “breaking news”—for ratings. Then the attention prostitutes in various gov’t bureaus seek their own minutes of fame by feeding the mass media. Feh. A pox on all their houses.

IF WE HAVE GLOBAL WARMING-—
WHY DO WE HAVE OCEAN COOLING?
They gave up on that “global warming” mantra when the scientific evidence proved them to be total idiots. Now it is merely referred to as “climate change”. We have had “climate change” since the Earth was formed.
Tis a puzzlement, eh?
Why are you yelling? Because the libs yell?
Last I checked, there have already been two landfalling Cat 5 hurricanes this year. The region was lucky enough for that to happen in sparsely-populated areas. So it's hardly been a trivial hurricane season.
Yeah, it ends in just 7 weeks!
... But then come the playoffs....
LOL! I thought the same thing. The Hurricanes are in second place, but they won’t be in the playoffs until next spring!
“What is in store for the 2007 hurricane season?”
“The Climate Prediction Center forecasts much above normal hurricane activity for 2007:
13-16 named tropical storms
7-9 hurricanes
3-5 major hurricanes (category 3 or higher)
As of September 25, the North Atlantic has seen the following activity:
13 named tropical storms
4 hurricanes
2 major hurricanes (both category 5)”
http://www.pewclimate.org/hurricanes.cfm
Well, the forecast for named tropical storms has been met. We`re 3 short for hurricanes and one short for major hurricanes. And we still have almost 2 more months to go. Time will tell. I know the agw fanatics are crossing their fingers and hoping for more hurricanes.
Why oh Why didn’t the President sign that Kyoto Accord?, then we wouldn’t be facing this certain doom....! /sarc
