The ruckus over the Rush Limbaugh "phony soldiers" statement is dying down. It ought not to. There is a huge story here.
What did Rush say? In a Sept. 26 conversation with a caller to his program who claimed the media never interview "real soldiers," but just people out of the blue, Rush added for emphasis, "the phony soldiers."
The left saw its opportunity and pounced with a vengeance. Led by the George Soros-funded and Hillary Clinton-inspired Media Matters outfit, it unleashed a scorched-earth attack on Limbaugh for insulting the military, stating that any servicemen or women who might oppose the war in Iraq had been defamed by the talk show host as "phony soldiers."
The television networks, newspapers and leftist blog sites were ablaze with stories about Democratic outrage. There were calls for his show to be yanked from the Armed Forces Radio Network. There were demands that Clear Channel make Rush apologize and that advertisers pull their sponsorship.
Presidential candidates denounced him. Congressional leaders the usual crowd of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Tom Harkin, John Kerry, etc. denounced him. A formal congressional resolution condemning Limbaugh was drawn up by Rep. Mark Udall, D-Colo., and reportedly had over 100 Democrat (and one Republican) signers. The message was clear: Limbaugh's anti-military insult could not, and would not, be tolerated.
How disingenuous was this leftist attack on Limbaugh? Let us count the ways.
He's visited the troops on the battlefield in Afghanistan and brought comfort to our wounded at the Walter Reed Army hospital. He's raised and donated millions to military charities. It is no wonder that he is the single most popular personality on the Armed Forces Radio Network.

I tuned into lefty blowhard Ed Schultz about a week ago for a few minutes and he was having an orgasm on the air over this phony story.
bump
Many criminals never stop until they are incarcerated or killed. Witness history.
Anti-truth, anti-freedom, anti-life United States Senators and Congressman attacking an innocent American should resign.
But this won’t stop the left.

Yes. All of this feigned “outrage” happened on the taxpayer’s dime too - when they should have been working - they were using the time to try to throw up a big smokescreen to distract and cover up the mess they botched with the General “Betrayus” ad.
Anybody with a brain can see through this, the trouble is that about half of the country sees it, knows it - and still doesn’t care. They just want to win elections & they don’t care how they have to do it. It is frightening that this many people hate their country as much as they do.
They disgust me. Past history has us just ignoring these abominable attacks, but that hasn’t gotten us anywhere. We need to keep screaming our outrage at these people & holding them up to the light where everyone can see their hypocrisy. It won’t sway the radical left - but it may be enough to sway the middle.
The left uses phony soldiers to prop up their distorted view of the war, and they use phony intellectuals like Hillary Rodhamobama Clinton and John Kerry to prop up their claims for leadership.
You're right, I forgot about Hsu.
Hey WALL STREET JOURNAL.... What's the update on this story?
I can't decide if these folks truly hate their country, or if they are just too stupid to know they are being lied to repeatedly. Seems to me these America bashers are the same sorts of folks that follow and participate in whatever the latest fad happens to be. Could be hate of their country, but it could also be the herd mentality.....either way it's damaging, no doubt about it.
I couldn't agree more. But it did force the dems to use some of their powder early.
Rush now has a free ride until election day. And he's not going to forget Hsu.
And phony "poor" families so they can give away health insurance for all.
“yes”
It's very damaging. I had Rush on the radio at my place of business the other day & this guy walked up to the counter and said, (in front of other customers standing there) "I wish Rush would die of a drug overdose".
I immediately reacted with, "What a horrible thing to say!"
The man just walked out of my store after that. It got me thinking though, Rush must have really been getting under his skin - I guess the truth was hurting him so bad that he was compelled to come back with some sort of backlash.
The left knows they have stepped into some mighty deep doo-doo & they are desperately throwing up smokescreens to try to hide it. They are being forced to use some of their ammo up early & this is good.
We are feeding them rope and they are making their own noose.
It hasn’t died down with me. I want these liars and thugs out of the Senate.
Thanks to Rush, truly “phony soldiers” got some much needed exposure. We had some real combat soldiers over for a get-together and they were talking about phony soldiers that seem to be popping up, much like the pin festooned boonie hat wearing, sobbing VN “vet” panhandling on the street corners. I’ve investigated backgrounds of some of these types applying for various jobs (PI work), it’s amazing. They’re easy to spot though, pretty obvious but they need to be exposed more as they are clearly dishonoring our true vets and making a mockery of our military.
Already, many young people think of VN vets as dope smoking, hung over hippies in ragged camos hanging out without anything to do but beg and that’s not the case. But that’s what a propagandizing MSM does.
“We are feeding them rope and they are making their own noose.”
We keep fooling ourselves in believing this. I see no evidence that the left pays any price at all for their big lie stalinist tactics. In fact, they benefit greatly because let’s say 100 million people hear that Rush slandered the troops. Maybe only 30 million subsequently hear the truth and out of those only 20 million accept it. Therefore Rush’s credibility (and conservatism’s as well) becomes greatly reduced.
Both of the above.
