Republican Presidential Candidate Debate #8 Dearborn, Michigan 10/09/07 - Official Discussion Thread
CNBC/MSNBC/The Wall Street Journal are jointly sponsoring the first Republican Presidential debate of the 2008 campaign focusing on economic issues. It will be held on October 9 in Dearborn, Michigan at the University of Michigan-Dearborn at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. Broadcast is live on CNBC at 4 PM ET (1 PM PT) and re-broadcast on MSNBC at 9 PM ET (6 PM PT). CNBC's Maria Bartiromo and MSNBC's Chris Matthews will host the debate.
Candidates participating:
Fred started a little shaky, but once he relaxed he did much better.
But to say he owned it...I understand you support him, but that's a bit of an exaggeration.
But he's your guy,so I understand your relief at him not screwing up. 8^)
>> The fact of the matter is that Ron Paul supporters are either more motivated or they are experts at voting and then deleting cookies and can manipulate their IP addresses like a cat burglar does a safe.
I think it is more likely a combination of (1) Paulistas spamming polls, and (2) Democrats spamming Republican polls to skew them in favor of the antiwar candidate.
H
that’s all I need...confirmation from that nut job!
Oops, now Mike is ahead! Gracious, this poll is useless, ha ha..:-)
Somebody earlier made a comment about Hunter coming across as too mean or angry, but it’s just perception (or maybe projection). But yes, Keyes is one of the greatest minds of our time and I find him to be a valuable voice and has helped me fine-tune my arguments and debate skills.
Romney is the best political tap dancer to appear on the public stage since the Rapist-in-Chief.Rudy is a spinmeister extraordinaire. I am have my doubts on Thompson's ideology, but what the MSM see as his weakness will be his strength when it comes to the voters who vote in real primaries. With Fred less is more. The fact that as Shakespeare said of Cassius, he has that lean and hungry look about him, so it is with Romney and Giuliani. The constant willingness to say or do anything to please is difficult to sustain in such a long electoral process. Thompson is an actor and he understands underplaying your role is often a more compelling approach than the overacting of Mitt and Rudy.
I'm pulling for Romney, but I'll attempt to be objective:
Whether or not Romney won, this debate performance was one of his best so far.
Romney stood out clearly in these respects:
Romney had, if not the best, the most humorous lines:
He did great and tied the ribbons on it with laughter. “Leave ‘em laughing”!

S'cuse me? To me he's a handsome man....not only physically but intellectually.....the latter meaning more to me than anything.
We’ll see for sure when the first primary occurs.
Unless Dems are allowed to participate.
You’re kidding! He’s an embarrassment .. who invited him in?
I think Hunter and Fred were the only two being themselves with no regrets.

My hubby who hasn’t paid much attention thought Paul was Dennis Kucinich’s twin in GOP clothes! LOL
The top tier did not impress me much. Sometimes I almost liked McCain, God help me. I hate his immigration and border stance.
Fred was okay, a safe bet, Rooty just Rooty, Romney still unknown.
Brownback needs to drop out.
Hunter the best pro American people candidate.
No Rudy, no Paul, no Brownback. They should take a hike.
As far as guts go? Tancredo was the winner, even though he hasn’t a chance.
Agreed. Fred survived ... and he showed some promise toward the end ... but to say he owned it is to drop all pretense of objectivity.
IF you want to be entertained...turn on Jay Leno.
I’m with you, Fawn. Conservative voters are not quite as shallow as some of the comments I’ve seen here about Fred.
Just found out that Chris is only 3 years younger than Fred!
Guess that means he’s OLDOLDOLD too! :-)
I’d take Fred over Johnnie or Rudy.
I see it the way that I see it. You are free to do likewise. I will not degrade you for having a different opinion. We will be in the same trench fighting the same enemy soon.
