Why didn’t car insurance pay for the medical bills? This was brought up in the original thread and I never saw an explanation. Thanks for your efforts.
I wondered about that, too. Whose fault was the accident? If the other driver, why didn’t he/she pay? If uninsured, why didn’t they have uninsured motorist?
There’s some intriguing unanswered questions here.
I can tell you, because we are going thru this right now. Being a "No-Fault state" at the time of the accident (FL changed Oct 1) our insurance paid for our first 10k of the medical bills. The other person's insurance was supposed to kick in at that point. But, the accident was in November of last year, the other insurance company won't pay their share until the final prognosis is done. Meanwhile, our bilss have totaled nearly 25k since then and we must pay them as best we can until the "settlement" from the other insurance company. They have "offered" only about 12k for services that already total more than twice that, and want a complete medical history for the last 5 years to determine if they'll pay for anything at all.............
I posted earlier a comment about seatbelts; they are required in Maryland. The brief description of the accident wherein the children were injured seems to indicate that they became projectiles and incurred most of their injuries because of that fact. Now that the family has chosen to become public figures, I think the public deserves to know if we had to pay for their injuries because of their mother’s negligence.
They probably don’t have medical payments coverage on their auto insurance to get a lower rate. Why not if they can get the state to pick up the tab.
