Reid Continues To Press For Limbaugh Apology
WASHINGTON -- October 8, 2007: Clear Channel CEO Mark Mays last week declined to apologize for a September 26 on-air remark by Rush Limbaugh -- syndicated by CC-owned Premiere Radio networks -- so now the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has sent an e-mail, signed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, to supporters asking them to contact Mays and demand that he make Limbaugh apologize.
"It's one thing to call me 'Dingy Harry,' Reid wrote, "it's another to insult our men and women in uniform, calling those who oppose the war 'phony soldiers' as Rush did during his Sept. 26 broadcast."
The e-mail, which includes a direct link to send an e-mail to Mays, ends with, "Rush certainly has the right to say whatever he wants -- but we have an obligation to speak out when he goes too far."
On September 26, a caller to Limbaugh's show complained about the press's coverage of the Iraq war, "They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media." Limbaugh responded, "The phony soldiers," to which the caller said, "The phony soldiers. If you talk to a real soldier, they are proud to serve."
Reid complained on the Senate floor that Limbaugh had called all soldiers who oppose the war "phony soldiers" and sent a letter to Mays -- signed by 41 Democratic senators -- demanding that he condemn Limbaugh's words. Mays declined to do so, saying, "I will not condemn talent" for expressing their views.
Limbaugh has steadily maintained that he was referring only to Jesse MacBeth, who gave media interviews reporting atrocities by American troops before admitting in court that he had been discharged from the Army after six weeks and never went overseas. Limbaugh referred to MacBeth by name later in the call in which the "phony soldiers" exchange took place.
Harry, you anti-truth, anti-freedom, anti-life POS,...RESIGN NOW!
Being Democrat means never having to say you’re sorry.
Rush laughed when he read Reid’s original letter which acknowledged that Reid was aware the Rush had labeled him “dingy Harry”. It was the laugh of a smart-aleck student when the principal finds out the rude nickname he has been labeled with.
Reid and the other Democrat Senators have no business asking anyone for an apology or censoring anyone.
Matter of fact, the Constitution forbids it.
Says so right there in the First Amendment.
“Congress shall make no law.... abridging the freedom of speech..”.
Reid and his buddies need to STFU!
Dingy Harry Reid will go to his shallow grave (to match his character) with his own foot in his mouth and Rush’s foot up his ass.
Reid = Phony American
When is Harry going to apologize for offenses worse than McCarthy was accused of?
If Dingy Harry wants to keep bringing it up, let him. “Never interrupt your opponent when he is in the process of making a blunder.”
Reid = Tool
Being a Stalinist means never having to admit you were wrong.
You are being entirely too generous. My impression is that Dingy's IQ is probably somewhere in the single digits.
Democrats = Phony Americans
Its past time to look at Reids sons and son in laws “financial dealings” that weere set up by Harry
I’m so glad that my tax dollars are being well spent by assholes like this chump, who obviously has nothing better to do than to try to bring down talk show hosts.
True, so true. At our Friday night rally there was a guy that overheard a friend and I discussing the Taliban who interjected that “the Taliban are people too”. He is definitely in the running for stupidist comment of the year.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Reid is a moron. The people of Nevada must be as stupid as those in 49 other states to put up with him.
Senator “Dingy” Harry Reid; fool, liar, traitor...at least one and likely all three!
