The Leftists are essentially the same folks who are opposed to the war against militant Islam — whose goal is to execute gays.
Go figure...
It’s also disturbing to see the attempt by the left to outlaw one’s personal contempt for another...
It is NOT the Government’s role to prevent folks from being insulted or disliked by private citizens.
At least - I can’t find that role in the Constitution.
Are we headed for a Stalinist environment where we are no longer allowed to exercise our freedoms of religion or speech when it comes to speaking out against perverts, rapists, racists, politicians, etc...?
You might be interested in Thomas Sowell’s book, “The Vision of the Anointed”. Basically, he says that a self-appointed elite 1. decide that a certain problem exists (although it may not), 2. and come up with social engineering solutions because they think they know what is best. 3. Conservatives object. 4. The plan is put into action, fails and the self-appointed social engineers deny that they had anything to do with the failure. The problem would have gotten worse if they had done nothing, etc., etc.
