Fred`s main effort was to eliminate soft money and better control the hard cash donations. The section that indexed contributions to inflation came about from Fred`s amendment. That increased donation limits from $1,000 to $2,000 -— $2300 today. Earlier this year Fred said the time may have come to lift all limits on political contributions. With immediate and full public disclosure on the internet. The limits on political free speech which outlawed certain issue ads 30-60 days before an election, has for all intents and purposes been revoked by the SCOTUS.

Howard Baker is listed as honorary chairman, plus he is mid 80s. I doubt he will be very active. Fred said in 1996 on a Charlie Rose interview that they had differences and he was more conservative, but also that Howard Baker gave him chances and opportunities when he was young. He appreciates the opportunities and they are friends but that doesn’t mean Fred and Howard Baker see eye to eye.
Back thirty years ago TN was largely a Democratic state and there weren’t a lot of Republicans. They helped each other out. I’m glad Fred has friends that helped him get a start and I’m glad he treats his friends well, but he also doesn’t dance to someone else’s tune.

Well, It would have been nice a while ago.
Now all I can see is a member of the leadership team who will probably, if recent history is any indication, spend the entire campaign season apologizing on Fred Thompson’s behalf.
Still, George is a good man, and I’m glad he didn’t sell his soul to Rudy911.

Freds turning out to be just another disappointment.
...and that would be your unbiased opinion, right? ...because millions of folks are finding him to be just right.

Not being afraid to show your loyalty and respect in public, says a lot about a man, don’t you think?

There is no such thing as an unbiased opinion. You can have unbiased facts that inform your opinion, but all opinions are biased.
I never said Fred had no support. I will say he doesn't have my support. The more he talks the less I want to vote for him. When I say he has been a disappointment, I say it because I very much expected to like him better than I do. Clearly I am not alone since he is having trouble polling ahead of liberal Rudy.

A number that is falling by the day if we believe Rasmussen.
And why would we not? After all, they were so accurate when they had Fred way in the lead...

Baker brings that long time Saudi Arabia support at all costs.
The wahabi movement must be happy.
HOWEVER that said, baker joining a Thompson effort vs a Guiliani effort is VERY significant in a postive way.

Freds turning out to be just another disappointment. I'm still waiting for him to appear in a debate or two.
Then I'll be a bit more informed on Thompson, and whether he can stand up with the rest.

I'm not disputing the numbers. The numbers support my argument that people ARE, in fact, finding FRed to be just what we need right now.
Besides, FRed hasn't run 10,000 ads and spent over 8 million dollars to buy his votes.

He waited for the beginning of the new quarter, not for any “so called” debate to end.
If you don’t truly understand that, then perhaps you should not post on the subject on a FRed thread. Unless, that is, you’re just trying to stir up shiite, based on lies, misinformation, out of context quotes, and rumors, because you are scared your guy, or gal?, might be hurt by FRed. Are you?
