Ah, but I think Jena may be a defining moment. It will be the model that many black thugs use to beat the snot out of any white kid walking down the block. It already happened in Norfolk. This is just the beginning.
The nooses were about racism. The beating the one kid received was criminal. There’s plenty of blame to go around.
I submit, though, that if the causal act had been “Jesus on the cross in a jar of urine,” and the result had been the beating of the “artist” by a group of Christian youth, that this would have been handled entirely differently.
I’m not defending the hanging of nooses in trees. Lynching was murder, plain and simple. But that doesn’t justify the assault. This isn’t a cause celebre in my book.
