Syria 'likely' to respond to Israeli strike

Syria is likely to use proxies to respond indirectly to the Jewish state's air strike last month on an undisclosed military facility, Israeli Military Intelligence chief Amos Yadlin said yesterday.

"In our view, Syria does not want to escalate the situation and embark on a conflict with Israel right now. However, we believe that it could work against Israel indirectly," said Yadlin during a security meeting yesterday.

The information comes as a newly released book disclosed Syria recently formed a new guerrilla group modeling itself after the Lebanese Hezbollah militia. The new group is preparing for "resistance attacks" against the Jewish state, according to leaders of the group speaking during in-person interviews.

In his new book, "Schmoozing with Terrorists: From Hollywood to the Holy Land, Jihadists Reveal their Global Plans – to a Jew!" WND Jerusalem bureau chief Aaron Klein obtained access to the leadership of the new purported Syrian group, calling itself the Committees for the Liberation of the Golan.

"If an agreement is not quickly forged between Israel and Syria [for an Israeli withdrawal from the Golan], we will begin attacks," a senior leader of the Committees told Klein, speaking on condition his name be withheld.

The Golan Heights is strategic mountainous territory looking down on Israeli and Syrian population centers captured by Israel after Damascus twice used the territory to attack the Jewish state.

The Committees leader stated Syria watched as Israel "lost" a war against the Lebanese Hezbollah militia in the summer of 2006 and noted the Syrian leadership learned that "fighting" is more effective than peace negotiations with regard to gaining territory.

Israel should not give up any more ground captured in the Seven Day War. Instead it should put it on record, that any attack by Syria will result in half of Syria being captured by Israel, and would be kept in perpetuity.

Hate to say it, but I guess I'm one of those chicken hawks. I won't have to go, but for some reason, I ready for it to start. I'd like to see at least a little progress in my lifetime. One or more of the ME $hitholes need to be paved over before I die.

I watched "The Taliban" on the Discovery channel today and Afghanistan is already turning back to Omar. They prefer the Taliban to America. These are mental defectives. Extermination seems in order to keep the infestation under control. I want to think there are some right thinking people over there, but they just keep living up to my stereotype. Syria has never been worth a damn, and I don't think they ever will. If Saddam swinging from a noose doesn't scare anybody but Lybia, then they are too dumb to live.

I watched "The Taliban" on the Discovery channel today and Afghanistan is already turning back to Omar.

That's why no one should watch BS propaganda on TV. This show was a complete waste of time. The Democrat/anti-victory mantra of the "resurgent Taliban" and NYTimes vaunted "Taliban Spring offensive" gibberish. Anyone following the events in Afghanistan recognizes that the Taliban are being killed in unprecedented quantity.

They prefer the Taliban to America.

Who? The Afghans? There are no "Afghans". There are Pashtus, Tajiks, Hazara, Uzbeks, Aymaks, Turkomen and Baluchis. The Taliban where Pakistani export-dictators. Ethnically only the Pashtus were a sizeable followership of the Taliban. Most of the country opposed the Taliban, cooperated with us to get rid of them and continues to do so.

Syria ‘likely’ to respond to Israeli strike
***The most likely response is going to be a bunch of words. The real response will be an uptick in Syrian state-sponsored terrorism and other asymmetrical force threats.
