I have learned the hard way regarding religious discussions on this particular forum.
It's better to let these folks stew in their own juices and stay out of their perpetual hallucinations. It's painfully obvious to any rational person who reads some of these replies that religious wars are fought for the same reasons expressed here. It's also clear why Islam became what it is. It was created as a counter measure out of anger and resentment.
I personally believe that there is indeed a God, but he has a lot of work to do and has not been very successful thus far.
God help God. Puleeeze!
Lincoln?
"And I believe a gift of that Almighty to every man, woman and child is freedom. I really do. And I think people, if given a chance, will seize freedom. And it's liberty and free societies -- not -- they don't have to look like America -- an Iraqi democracy is going to be Iraqi, it's going to reflect Iraqi traditions and Iraqi history.
There are some universal aspects to liberty. One, people can vote, people can express their opinion, people can be in a free press, people ought to be allowed to go to the town square and protest against their government without fear of reprisal. "
...But NEVER violate the will of the "world community" or any UN sanction!
Maybe it isn’t God’s work that needs to be done...?
God simply watches us and delights in us growing in the same way we delight in the growth of our own children.
The day we learn -all by ourselves- to “don’t touch the stove” is the day He can proudly give us a bike to bash our heads open with. But He will still be there to give us a band-aid and set us back on our bike... when we are again ready.
WE’RE the one’s who learn to ride the bike, He simply gets to watch and enjoy our journey.
