Good to see the conservative candidate surging past Rudy McRomney.

Slick Willard has to clobber the field in Iowa to justify the money and build any kind of momentum. He can’t just win, he has to win huge.
But with only half a million of voter contributions on hand, he does not seem to be catching fire. Word is getting out about the Slickster, despite what his Sleaze Brigade tries to do in his aid.

I lived in Iowa from 1974 to about 2002, and the people there, like New Hampshire, don’t like to be told what to do, who to vote for, etc...

I have heard that Willard’s ads are relentless and irritating (and maybe relentlessly irritating too).
It must be exhausting.

It would be good to see NH go for McCain and then McCain fizzle, and the glamor of the NH primary forever lost.

Yes, IA prides itself on “independence”. Nobody ever told them apparently that Tom Harkin is a hard-left socialist, as most in IA adore him.

“Iowa is a caucus state. And history has shown that it is difficult to turn popular support in Iowa into strength in the caucuses. This is where sheer organization comes into play as candidates must identify who their supporters are at precinct level and then move those supporters physically to the caucus site. In this respect, no one really knows who is ahead in Iowa although Romney is generally acknowledged as having the best organization while Thompson’s presence in the state is considerably less. “
Capt Ed says that the surge is among self-indentified likely caucus goers.

Good news for the good guy!
Good news for conservatives too.

NH did just that in 2000. Bush won Iowa and McCain came back and blew him away in NH only to see Bush then win Delaware and drive the nail down in SC.

Living in MA has its advantages, (oddly enough). If so inclined, we can head north and actually meet Presidential candidates, size them up in the flesh. They’re forced to talk to ordinary voters in small towns and even smaller venues, which somehow separates the phonies (Kerry, Hill, Edwards), from the real deal. If Fred spends some serious time in NH, he can win.

You are wrong, I have been told by the Mittwitts that he only has to win a little. It is in inverse porportion to what he has spent or something like that.
This is going to be good. Rush is pissed, Mitt and his folks are smearing Reagan, and he has been spending his own cash trying to buy down the Primary.
Yup, it is going to be fun to watch.

Thanks for the ping! I’m glad to hear that Thompson’s swamped Giuliani in Iowa. Heh! And Romney hasn’t improved his numbers there since May— heh heh! Way to go FRed!

The MSM thinks they will choose Rudy for us. Well, have I got a surprise for them. Thompson came in right on time, ignoring the MSM if he has a better option. It will be a refreshing change if he continues to frustrate them. It is so early and people are just now beginning to really pay attention. The field needs to thin, however, the People will decide that soon. The MSM can just go piss up a rope if they think Rudy or Mitt can get past the Conservatives in this party. That leaves our one and only Fred, who is just 5 short weeks, is second or third in most every poll at RealClearPolitics.com.
Now, we as Conservatives need to rally around him and make some news! This will drive the MSM even more nuts!!!

Rudy is toast. Mitt we have to watch but I think as he comes to life now that people are paying attention, his 2-4 year old Conservative epiphanies are going to play very poorly. The More I read on him the more I realize he is a mile wide and an inch deep in his devotion to all things Conservative.

I am limited in access from my phone. Look for threads where Mitt has talked about Reagan being “Adamantly” pro choice in the 1960s and also look for threads on Rush, Freds responce to the attacks on him and also what Mitts team said.
Interesting stuff.
