A southern California man is in custody Friday night, after police say he posed as a doctor, and gave valley women phony cosmetic injections. Mario Nieves Perez of Chula Vista was arrested Thursday at the Permanent Beauty Salon in northeast Fresno.
A warning this story contains images that may be disturbing to some viewers.
These women still don't know what they were injected with, they were told it was collagen.
Fresno police believe there are at least a dozen victims so far who went to this man hoping to get either wrinkles filled or plumper lips. They left with a permanent problem. The damage is visible and even over makeup you can see large lumps that when touched are rock solid.
Fresno police say Mario Nieves Perez posed as a doctor from Mexico who told victims he used state of the art products offered at bargain prices.
Don Gross, Fresno Police Department, says "These injections he was charging like $100 for when actual injections would cost in the $500 to $2500 dollar range. So the old adage if something's too good to be true, it probably is. Definitely holds true. It's obviously too dangerous to do something like that with your health and safety."
The victims, who do not want their identities revealed say earlier this year they went to the Permanent Beauty Salon hoping to enhance their look, but after one treatment in particular, they immediately realized something was terribly wrong.
One of the victim's told Action News, "Instantly my lips started to get hard. I started getting lumps on my lips. He kept telling me to rub them or smooth them out you know. But they wouldn't do anything. They just instantly froze that way."
Underneath the lips, you can see whatever was injected has formed hard clusters... That victims say are ugly, painful and sensitive.
"They hurt sometimes they itch. They swell up. They move and it's very uncomfortable. It's hard to talk," says one victim.
Perez was reported to police by a licensed dermatologist who was concerned after a series of victims showed up desperately wanting a solution to fix the problem. Only issue now, no one knows what they were injected with in the first place.
The victims say Perez seemed sincere and believable and they never questioned his legitimacy. "He said he was a doctor in Chula Vista, said he had his own practice over there. He said we could even check, we could even go over there, he had an address," says one victim.
They never checked his credentials, but now, left with embarrassing imperfections, those who received injections say they feel foolish and forever scarred.
Fresno police arrested Perez for performing medical procedures without a license. But he could be charged with fraud for basically taking money under false pretenses.
I hope Rush Limbaugh doesn’t report on this story. If he does, the dems in the Senate will declare him anti-doctor!
I know. Rush could report on anything now and all they need is to take two words out of context and go ballistic. Rush could say he really likes smoking an aromatic Cuban cigar, They will take the words “aromatic Cuban” and accuse Rush of saying Cubans stink.
by the time Hillary is done, this will pass for top notch health care.
There was nothing disturbing about those pictures! The left is absurd.
Phoney doctors??? Rut ro........don’t let them dems find out about this.........
” Police claim Perez never went to medical school and is in the United State illegally from Mexico.”
I hope Rush doesn’t mention this on his show. Dingy Harry might issue another proclamation against El Rushbo for disparaging doctors.
Dontch just love the right to freedom of speech? Oh wait, we’re slowing losing that right............
Based on this I expect Bush to intercede on his behalf very soon.
If a woman is silly enough to let someone stick a needle in her face for cosmetic reasons and not even check their credentials, she deserves what she gets.. buyer beware for goodness sakes!
Yeow!
The phony doctor is Mario Nieves Perez. It looks like he is phony immigrant as well. Man, the donkycrap democrats are gonna love this guy.
Poor people!
I feel sorry for these people too.
Liberal groups in mass E-Mails: "Call the sponsors of the show and tell them you won't buy their products until they cancel their support."
Just applying the cosmetic enhancements American’s won’t.
