A man that CBP agents say was trying to illegally enter the U.S. this week has been identified as a member of the fearsome MS-13 gang and has been caught trying to sneak into the country three times, CBP spokesman Richard Pauza said Friday.Customs and Border Protection agents found Jonathan Stanley Figueroa Hernandez, 28, hiding in a railcar at the Eagle Port of Entry on Tuesday, Pauza said.
Figueroa Hernandez did not have identification papers; agents used fingerprints to determine his identity. Pauza added that Figueroa Hernandez has a lengthy criminal record in the U.S., including burglary, theft, possession of a weapon on a school campus, sale of a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.
Figueroa Hernandez has the letters "MS" tattooed on his abdomen, Pauza said, a common identifying mark for members of the Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13, gang. That gang originated among El Salvadoran immigrants in Los Angeles in the 1970s and is one of the largest and most brutal gangs in the world.
Pauza said Figueroa Hernandez's nationality is unknown, but the last three times Figueroa Hernandez was caught trying to enter the country, he was deported to El Salvador.
CBP officers arrested Figueroa Hernandez on a federal charge of being an immigrant without documentation, and turned him over to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officials, Pauza said.
He has also been charged with re-entering after deportation, said ICE spokeswoman Nina Pruneda.
The MS-13 gang is an ICE priority, Pruneda said. The agency launched Operation Community Shield about two years ago specifically to target members of that gang, she said. Thousands of MS-13 members have been arrested since then, and most of them deported to El Salvador, she said.
"The MS-13 are individuals we don't want to think twice about going after aggressively," Pruneda said. "MS-13 is into all types of crime, especially violent crimes against individuals."
Pruneda would not say whether Figueroa Hernandez would be deported again because there is an ongoing investigation. Although re-entering the U.S. after being deported is a serious offense, many people still try, Pruneda said.
"They can try, and we'll definitely continue to aggressively pursue them and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law," Pruneda said.

bump for publicity
MS Ping!
If you want on, or off this S. Texas/Mexico ping list, please FReepMail me.
Just your core democrat party voter coming in to cast a few hundred votes for Hillary, maybe to work on fundraising.
Voter fraud! Discrimination!
Ping...!
Poor Jonathan has an unlucky habit of getting caught...three times now, eh?
He's worth exactly one bullet.
Dont be surprised to see him invited to speak at a university soon.
Alas, how true. If not a university maybe a community college. The one in my town already gives free radio time for illegal immigrants. What’s one more in the bigger scheme of things?
” . . . we’ll definitely continue to aggressively pursue them and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law,” Pruneda said. “
Tee hee.
It’s time to throw away the key on this worthless piece of flotsam.
Wait a minute. This sounds like the "criminalization of being an illegal" that the open borders crowd got so worked up about in the Republican immigration bill. If it's already against the law to be here without documentation, what was their problem?
Ah hell, shoot him twice!
Obviously,
We need a three strike rule to cover illegal alien felons..
Shoot the sonsuvbitches on the third conviction...
That must be the MANDATORY sentence for illegal alien felons...
MANDATORY DEATH......
"All the fearsome gangs run our software. Wimpy thugs run that Linux crap . . ." |
Nah, castrate and deport him. That would be a great deterrent!
Empty the magazine into this waste of flesh. Trebuchet the remains over the border, back into Mejico.
This is why we need to strengthen Immigration enforcement. While it would be nice to think that all Illegal Immigrants are only guilty of entering the country illegally, some enter with bad intentions. Clearly, we need to deport all Illegals that are engaging in further illegal activity before we move to deport others. This is why we must enforce the law first before deciding what to do with the rest of the 12 million estimated Illegal aliens in the country. Any type of amnesty before the border is reasonably secure is just going to undermine enforcement.
Sorry for the Left, but I am not going to left the Border fence got unbuilt while Drug runners and coyotes with cars or trucks cross the border without being stopped by any physical barrier.

I hate the mentality that if we have better sanction laws, no one is going to try to cross illegally and we won’t need any fencing at all.
