Democrats Getting High on Limbaugh
RealClearPolitics ^ | 10/6/2007 | Jack Kelly

"Maybe he was just high on his drugs again," said Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa. "But that shouldn't be an excuse." That sounds suspiciously like the sort of personal attack Democrats claim to decry. And Sen. Harkin was just one of an impressive number of big foot Democrats to take to the Senate floor last Monday to calumniate conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

It's odd enough to have the Senate Majority Leader, his deputy, and the chairman of the Armed Services Committee, among others, take up the Senate's time to attack a radio talk show host, instead of, say, working on the appropriations bills that were supposed to have been enacted into law before the new fiscal year began Oct. 1st. But there was something odder still about Monday's performance.

Title should be "Getting Higher". They are wishing they would have never took the hit. Becoming a bad trip for them.

Senator Harkin lied about his military service, and he is lying about what Rush Limbaugh said. He is engaging in what liberals like to call “McCarthyism”. If anyone should be censured, it’s Harkin and Media Matters.

They're running against Rush even though he's not a candidate for public office. The Democrats think the way to win in 2008 is to all pile on America's most popular radio broadcaster. This is too good for them to give up.

This borders on and was certainly headed toward gov’t censorship. With Hillary and a Dem congress in ‘08 you can count on the return of the Fairness Doctrine as well as other fascist policies. It is crucial we beat them.

I is unwise for Tom Harkin to engage in any argument where the word phony is prominent.

Notice Reid and Harkin launch thier attacks form the only platform in AMerica with immunity from defamation lawsuits, and are too cowardly to go outside of the Senate and accuse him????

Rush is probably getting a lot of new viewers. He started off Thursday’s show:

“No human being should be allowed to have the kind of fun I’m having today.”

And how many of us have forgotten this isn’t the first time this has happened to Rush. Remember when Bill Clinton tried to blame him for the Oklahoma city bombing?

What Harkin said was horrible and inexcusable. I would be embarrassed if I were him.

“It is crucial we beat them.”

I totally agree. Look at what is transpiring out of this. They tried to put it to El-RushBo but forgot that he has been doing battle with them for almost 20 years. Dem’s have came and gone in that period with Rush maintaining the same conservative stance. They have opened their mouth and Rush is feeding it to them. It doesn’t get much better than this.

I say encourage the dims to keep digging that hole. Maybe even email them that they need to keep it up.

Its going to come down to who’s voter base is “involved” enough to vote on 11/7/08. Their continuous attacks ARE empowering conservatives. Don’t see dims “historical vote base - blacks and moderates” thinking they have a dog in the fight, queers, 60’s hippies and far lefties won’t make a majority.

Harkin’s statement is a mental make up for missions he thought and claimed to have flied but... as it was uncovered later never took part in.

How did Harry Reid earn his nickname “dingy Harry”?

I missed that one along the way.

Thank you.

And it’s hard to believe that he said it while on the floor of the United States Senate. (shaking my head)

"How did Harry Reid earn his nickname “dingy Harry”?"

It's a reference to Clint Eastwood as "Dirty Harry Calahan. Remember the line that was uttered by Eastwood as he aimed that big handgun at a perp's head. "Go ahead. Make my day." Leftist, Communist Harry Reid doesn't qualify for the title "Dirty." He only qualifies for the title, "Dingy."

Now that I've helped you, please help me. What's the name of the former Georgia (congressman, I believe) who is constantly held up as a wounded Vietnam War Veteran when, in fact, the wounds were not received in battle, but self inflicted. The dude accidentaly dropped a grenade on himself and lost some appendages. Sad that it happened, but hardly a battle wound.

I am very heartened by all the hullabaloo! At some point in the life of a very public person the scale tips to their side and almost anything that’s done to harm them just makes them stronger. I think Rush passed that point years ago! Not only are they not hurting him with all their ranting and raving, they are probably driving people to listen to him who have not listened before and would not listen were it not for the curiosity aroused by all the hoopla!

Keep it up guys! At least while you’re spinning your wheels on things that make no difference in the long run you can’t be about your normal bad deeds!
