First Barry Manilow, Now Whoopi Goldberg Hassle The View's Hasselbeck over Conservative/Pro-Life Views Goldberg, who is said to have had at least 6 abortions, says, "Americans ought to 'revere' women, who have had abortions
By Peter J. Smith NEW YORK, October 4, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Once again the pro-life views of Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the only conservative woman on ABC's "The View," have landed her in trouble after a heated exchange with Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O'Donnell's replacement, on Wednesday's program edition.
Hasselbeck noted her opinion that presidential Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton's proposal to give $5,000 for a new birth could help reduce abortions in the United States.
"I feel like this could maybe cause less abortions in the world. You know, people would keep having kids instead."
Goldberg then took the opportunity to attack Hasselbeck's pro-life views by asking her if she had ever been in a position to abort a child. Hasselbeck responded "never."
Goldberg then said, "Okay, then back off a little bit. Back off a little bit. Very few people want to have abortions." Goldberg's "very few people", however, have aborted nearly 50 million children since Roe v. Wade legalized it in 1973. According to one Goldberg biographer, Goldberg has had at least 6 abortions and used to joke perversely that she had a do-it-yourself coathanger abortion at 14 years-old.
Goldberg then lectured Hasselbeck that Americans ought to "revere" women, who have had abortions.
"It is the hardest decision that a woman ever- wait- ever has to make. So, when you talk about it, a little bit of reverence to the women out there who have had to make this horrible decision," Goldberg continued. Goldberg then repeated the standard pro-abortion harangue that Roe was meant to make abortion "safe" and "clean," because women were dying from coathanger abortions.
Hasselbeck, unfortunately being the only pro-life and conservative out of the four women on The View, has been repeatedly castigated for her opinion, most notably by fired "View" co-host Rosie O'Donnell. Earlier in September, Barry Manilow had refused to appear on ABC's "The View," because the show's producers refused to remove Hasselbeck from the segment.
Manilow called Hasselbeck "dangerous" and "offensive" for her "views" and said that while he was "a big supporter of the show," he was canceling his appearance because he felt "I cannot compromise my beliefs."
the view is repugnant and america’s women are watching it every day and I know it’s not just liberal women.

Whoopi Goldberg: Pelosi Admirer Extraordinaire
10/ 2/2007
By Mary Ann Akers
Sure, politicians always appreciate a warm welcome when they appear on daytime TV talk shows. But the welcome House Speaker Nancy Pelosi got today on ABC’s chick TV show “The View” was more than warm - it was downright steamy. Even before Pelosi walked on stage to take her seat at the round table, the show’s moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, and its co-hosts - with former news anchor Barbara Walters leading the pack - started flirting with the speaker’s husband, Paul, who was seated in the front row.
“You wanna take a look at Nancy Pelosi’s handsome husband?” Walters asked the audience. Yes, came the answer in the form of whooping and hollering. Poor guy was actually blushing. Then the show’s hosts asked him how long he and Madame Speaker have been married. “Forty-four years,” Mr. Pelosi managed between pained glances in the direction of a blanket, a paper bag, anything to hide under.
Whoopi got the pleasure of introducing Speaker Pelosi, who she noted is the first woman speaker of the House who, somewhere along the way, managed to raise five children. But Walters was still stuck on Mr. Pelosi, unfortunately for Mr. Pelosi. And this is where a little blushing turned to a Code Red alert, four-alarm fire.
Trying to shout over Whoopi and her other gabbing co-hosts and excited audience members, Barbara turned to Guest Pelosi and said she has heard Whoopi say before that she’d “do Paul Newman.” “And I think she’d like to do your husband as well,” Walters deadpanned in that quintessential accent that made her the subject of late-night lampooning over the decades. Of course, Whoopi being Whoopi, she couldn’t let that one go, which is where the speaker begins blushing.
Yes, Whoopi implicitly acknowledged, she’d like to do Mr. Pelosi - but she might take his wife while she’s at it. “I would do her as well. But we should wait on that because you’re still in office, I don’t want to cause a problem.”
Oh dear, would this were not live TV.
As you might expect, Speaker Pelosi remained silent underneath her signature permanent smile. And her press office later remained predictably mum on the specter of Whoopi-on-Speaker action. “She enjoyed being on the show,” Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly told us via email. “It was a fun chance to talk to (primarily) women around the country about what Democrats are doing in Congress.”
And he said Pelosi enjoyed her little thrust and parry with the show’s token conservative host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who challenged the speaker’s opposition to the troop surge in Iraq. As for what Pelosi thinks of Whoopi’s wild crush on her and her hubby, Daly said in an email, “Didn’t get to ask her about Whoopi comments...” Yeah, we didn’t expect so.
If implemented on a nationwide basis, in all Christian schools--one lesson per day, which equals only three weeks out of the school year, this culture would turn around.
I still have hope.
Would it be wrong of me to suggest that if Whoopi's mom had done something to 'revere,' the world would be a better place?
I guess it would. It would make me as hateful and self centered as she is.
Not really that hard.
He is the same Hollywood moron who said 15 years ago, we had 10 years left to survive as a planet because of global warming.
After all, Ted having several doctorates in environmental sciences that he is earned while tending bar at Cheers : )
LOL me too! What would Gynen do?
I do not revere a woman who’s had an abortion...
I pity and pray for them.... even more so for the ones who claim they are unapologetic and proud of what they have done.
SIX ABORTIONS????? 6 dead babies, Whoopi??? OMG! She wants to be REVERED??? We DO live in an Orwellian time!!! Black is white...good is bad....Whoopi is to be revered.
