So the abstract concept of patriotism isn't about lapel pins after all? Those madrassas sure did educated Barry well.

He doesn't need an Iranian flag lapel pin to show he is an Iranian patriot either.

Flag lapel pins are nothing more than props in the twisted minds of the democraps. The liberal politicians wear them in order to fool gullible voters.

B. Hussein Obama could wear nothing BUT flags as clothing and would never, ever, ever be close to a patriot.

"Patriotism to me, isn't what you wear on your lapel," True as far as it goes ... but why did he STOP wearing the pin?
To: Baladas
To the Democrats, the True Patriot is the one who craps on this nation and its flag.

Libs want to be seen as wearing their hearts on their sleeves, but displaying the symbol of the nation under which brave men & women are giving their lives is apparently asking too much...

"Patriotism to me, isn't what you wear on your lapel," the Illinois Democrat said in a statement. "It's what you carry in your heart. I don't need a pin to certify my love for this country." The word "patriotism", when uttered or written by a Democrat, should have a * beside it and a disclaimer below. Like other English words, liberals have redefined its meaning. They don't mean what you think of as patriotism when they talk about patriotism*.

Barack, start being a patriot first.
Then we can talk about flags.
To: EagleUSA
Nothing. And nothings wrong without wearing a pin either.

Samuel Johnson defined patriotism as the last refuge of a scoundrel .

While having or not having a flag does not make an American patriotic or unpatriotic, respectively, suspect Obama is not as loyal to this country as some of the other candidates--and not only because he is a Democrat. Obama was raised in a foreign country--so was Bill Richardson. Spending some of his formative years in a foreign state translates into a foreign culture having molded Mr. Obama into who he is today. Personally would make the requirements for President stricter, with potential Presidents having to have lived from 0 to 15 or 20 in the United States alone (maybe with some exceptions for vacations, but vacations of less than a month).
More on topic, some of the flag people and stuff is so tacky. Also, those little phrases which cropped up after September 11, such as 'red, white, and blue: these colors don't run' were loathsome.
Had it occurred to the 'inventor' of that phrase that red, white, and blue are the 'colors' not only of the United States, but: the UK, the Russian Federation, the Netherlands, Liberia, the Czech Republic, Chile, Cuba, Taiwan, Western Samoa, and....oh, yeah.....FRANCE (many freepers would argue that that is a country that runs)? If you include countries with those 'colors' plus other one(s), the number of countries is boosted further.
Then there are the technicalities. The inventor was obviously not familiar with washing clothes. Red dye is notorious for running, but blue can, too. And this was a thing to which the phrase was making reference. Furthermore, white is not a color. White is the collection of all colors in the visible spectrum. This last one is extremely picky, granted. Just take a low view of the stupidity of the phrase.
Also, drapping oneself in an American flag does not make one patriotic. Every single on the the September 11 hijackers could have draped themselves in a flag--and they weren't even American.
Yet another case of personally going into a little rant over method rather than stance....
