WASHINGTON - Idaho Sen. Larry Craig defiantly vowed to serve out his term in office on Thursday despite losing a court attempt to rescind his guilty plea in a men's room sex sting.

"I have seen that it is possible for me to work here effectively," Craig said in a written statement certain to disappoint fellow Republicans who have long urged him to step down.

Don’t be a democrat and try and hold on to power at all costs, Craig!

He’s finally acting as bold as a Democrat!

Later he can claim that he saved the Constitution from being hijacked by extremists!

He is siding with the Democrats, and has probably done so silently for years.

If his governor could nominate a replacement now, then that person would have the recognition at election time to keep the seat in Republican hands.

"I am extremely disappointed with the ruling issued today," he said in his written statement. "I am innocent of the charges against me."

It's a good thing he is not in the military, under UCMJ it is a CRIME to plead guilty to something you did not commit. I guess he does not hold himself to that standard, whether he is subject to the UCMJ or not.

Even if he stays, if Idaho elects a Democrat...it’ll be time to turn out the lights (the party’s over).

The GOP is gonna be hurting over this one. The dems are going to see to it he is not ousted so they can have him around as the Mark Foley for 08.

Craig should be shunned by the Republican Senators, but that would make him a Dumborat Hero.

I’m not excusing him, but I’m curious what the law is, concerning his plea to withdraw the guilty plea.

Is the judge a Democrat? They are obviously using this for political purposes.

Does he have any state constitutional grounds to do so?

I heard on the radio driving home that the governor already has a replacement.

When asked how this decision would affect the Republican party in the 2008 election he replied:

"ME! ME! ME! ME! ME!"

I hope he is told to go now by the other Senators and leadership. At least they should take away all his committee assignments. It's time to go Larry!

And the weird part is that Craig is unwittingly falling into that scenario. The Dims must be laughing their butts off.

If Craig had any political conscience at all he would resign so we could get a fresh GOPer in there that had a chance in the next election.

Unless Craig resigns, the governor’s hands are tied.

Even if there were a recall election, which I’m not sure is even possible with a Federal candidate, there would have to be a run-off election.

Classic sociopath...he doesn’t care about his state, his constituents, or his party. I hope McConnell and the other GOP senators force him out.

So he lied when he said he’d quit. Then he lied when he said he’d quit if he couldn’t get the guilty plea withdrawn. Therefore, it’s easy to come to the conclusion that he lied about everything else, including: “I’m not gay.”

You are gay, Senator Craig. You’re a big gay turd with a wide gay stance.
