Yeah, but what stage are we at again? Of course, there will be some divisions at this stage.
Secondly, these divisions are "good" in the sense that they send a longer-term message:
(a) The Republican base won't support, say, a pro-abortion Republican candidate. If the rest of the Republicans insist on putting forth such a candidate, well, at least they can't say in November, "Why didn't you tell us you'd stay home or vote for a third party?" Simply put: Strong, adverse reactions to certain candidates should send a longer-term signal (beyond the primaries)
(b) This long-term signal needs to be beamed even beyond the general election; elsewise, the party is sunk long-term. A party that plans on ignoring its base long-term is pure & simple, "sunk." The Big Tent can't become a circus.
