Sputnik is important to the history of technology. It inspired us to invent things that lead to... well Google when you get down to it. Sure maybe they shouldn’t have ignored Memorial Day and Veterans Day, but the 50th anniversary of Sputnik is worthy.
I agree. Sputnik was a great achievement and it’s launch should be a celebration for the whole human race. I just don’t like Google picking and choosing from equally worthy achievements.
