Reid Uses Limbaugh to Rally Grassroots Democrats By Susan Jones CNSNews.com Senior Editor October 04, 2007

(CNSNews.com) - "Dear Friend, Demand that Rush Limbaugh apologize." That's the latest salvo from Democrats who want Americans to believe that the influential talk-show host has insulted U.S. troops.

Writing on behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee -- a political group that works to elect Democrats -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Thursday said he normally ignores Rush Limbaugh. But Limbaugh's recent comment about "phony soldiers" went too far for him to stay silent, Reid said.

"It's one thing to call me "Dingy Harry" (as Limbaugh calls Reid) -- it's another to insult our men and women in uniform, calling those who oppose the war "phony soldiers" as Rush did during his Sept. 26 broadcast, Reid said in his message to DSCC supporters on Thursday.

In fact, Limbaugh did not say that soldiers who oppose the administration's conduct of the war are "phonies," although Democrats and liberal interest group insist that's what he meant.

A transcript of Limbaugh's radio program makes it clear that in talking to a caller, Limbaugh was reminded about "who the left props up as heroes." He used the phrase "phony soldiers," and a short time later, he brought up one particular soldier, Jesse MacBeth, who was sentenced to five months in prison for falsifying his military records.

Reid and 40 other senators sent a letter of complaint to Clear Channel CEO Mark Mays this week, demanding that Rush apologize -- for something he never said, Limbaugh insists. Now they're also urging DSCC supporters to send a letter to Mays, demanding that he "take action" and force an apology from Limbaugh.

Congress’s approval rating is at 11% now. Only imagine how low it will go now that the public sees that Harry and Nancy are wasting their time harrassing a radio personality. The anti-war crowd will be running to Ron Paul in droves.

Shouldn’t the PHONY senator be asking that store owner who flew the Mexican flag above the American flag to apologize??
Didn’t that happen in his state????

Well I’ve tried to come up with a better “nick” for him but can’t. What do you call some one who wakes-up in a strange motel room with his underwear on back wards and a shiny new quarter in his hand?

OK! OK! No more Dingy Harry. We can call him by his real nick name: Pinky! He loves to be called Pinky. It reminds him of Pinko. And we know who the Pinko’s are.

I was hoping the jacka$$ would do this. While his previous remarks were made on the floor of the Senate, where he enjoys immunity from slander suits, this email does not afford him such protection, is done with malice, and I sincerely hope Rush files suit for libel and slander.

I wonder if Joe DiGenvoa and Victoria Toensing are busy right now.

I want to know how these idiot senators can use OUR tax money to spew their venom on the senate floor for personal crap like slamming Rush? Can we do something (besides vote the jerks out).

Republican senators should have been right out of the gate with this. Of course, when it comes re-election time, they will be begging and pleading to get a mention on Rush’s show, or even to get some air time with Rush.

I don’t care if it DID take him five days, at least Fred Thompson came out with a statement of support. I’m sure he also took the time to listen to the broadcast in question, so that he could have all the facts and blast these traitorous and disgraceful Congress people with both barrels.

That’s all we can do, alas. However, once Pinky steps off the floor of the Senate and makes these remarks, his immunity also flies out the window. Murtha has had a lawsuit filed against him by the Marines he labeled as “cold-blooded murderers” because he said it at a press conference and NOT within the confines of the Senate chamber. I’m sure fat-a$$ will file a demurrer and I hope against hope that the presiding judge has a military background and/or a son or nephew currently serving.

I know Rush usually sloughs it off, but his time, I wish he wouldn’t. I really would like him to take this slime on. File suit after January, in the middle of the election year. Shrillery and B. Hussein Obama will be VERRRRY upset.

Unforunately, Nevada keeps sending him back. We can call for a boycott of Vegas, Tahoe, etc.

DINGY HARRY DINGY HARRY DINGY HARRY!

He meant THIS guy! Among others, of course.

Rush doesn't say bad things about real soldiers, that would be Jack Murtha and Dennis Kucinich.

"It's one thing to call me "Dingy Harry"

HAHAHAH I was wondering when Reid was going to comment on this. OK then, would you prefer Dirty Harry?

it's another to insult our men and women in uniform

Yo Dingy, you insult our men and women in uniform by bashing Petraeus, refusing to condem MoveOn's ad, pushing for our retreat when we've achieved great things, and undermining the service of our military members saying that the war is lost.

Actually that was New Mexico, but you’re right, whoever flew the Mexican flag over the US flag SHOULD apologize.
