Mexico to bolster immigrant defense, fight deportations
The Dallas Morning News ^ | October 4, 2007 | ALFREDO CORCHADO and DIANNE SOLÍS

Posted on 10/04/2007 6:32:39 AM PDT by Boston Blackie

The Mexican government is giving its consulates in the U.S. wide latitude to ramp up a campaign to toughen their defense of immigrants and plans to give them more resources as well, officials familiar with the strategy said.

The move comes as deportations reach an all-time high in the toughest crackdown in decades by the U.S. government and police authorities.

Among the actions under discussion are the creation of an anti-defamation league similar to that focused on protecting Jews; budget increases for some of the 47 consulates, especially in regions such as North Texas, where Mexican migration has been swift and plentiful; and a media campaign aimed at counteracting groups opposed to illegal immigration and sometimes legal immigration.

As I said before, the use of a fake ID has only been federally illegal for a short time, and the law is not retroactive.

Before just a few years ago, possession had to be accompanied by criminal fraud to be a crime, or else thousands of children who tried to use fake IDs to buy cigarettes and alcohol are also “criminals”.

It is also not cumulative. That is, if you used a fake ID to obtain a real ID, the real ID is valid, so you no longer need the fake ID. This means that if you had a fake SSN to obtain a real ID card, then used that real ID card to obtain a real SSN, the real SSN is valid.

Over time, you achieve de facto citizenship as much as a real citizen does. And only in recent years has the government started to demand that all children be issued SSNs. Before that time, there was *no* “identity paper” that all citizens had to have.

These are all enormous, gaping loopholes in the law that have created millions of US citizens who were not citizens before.

And just because you might think they are still illegal does not make them so, any more than if you think they are criminals. It is the law that decides, not public opinion.

Only the most recent arrivals fit into what you have described, as being able to not function unless they break the new laws. The millions here already, who are still not citizens, are to a great extent “grandfathered”, so that they may live here, work here, even get loans here, while still not be citizens.

If I am missing something here other than “I hate Mexicans”, please let me know.

Get with the program. You aren't supposed to start the race-baiting until after your talking points have been shot down. I'll let Geraldo know that you need to return for some remedial training.

I humbly suggest that you not attempt to debate race-baiters, just call them out once they reveal themselves. I doubt you would waste your time arguing with racists and they are just the other side of the same coin.

He's already proven he is not interested in a mature, rational discussion as there are thousands of post discussing all aspects of this topic which he has dismissed as "I hate Mexicans."

JimRob can run his site as he likes, but if it was mine, the race-baiters would be Zotted as fervently as the racists.

These are dark times my friend.

The way our government, both parties, at every level behaves in the face of this, it's almost difficult to think it hasn't been planned. If it hasn't then we have the most dysfunctional, worthless (and probably corrupt) government in our history.

It's pretty obvious by now that "we the people" mean nothing to them.

“I almost feel soprry for the mexican illegals - even Mexico doesn’t want them!”

Exactly. This has nothing to do with Mexico defending the rights of poor immigrants, and everything to do with a calculated economic policy designed to export much of their poverty to the United States, so they don’t have to deal with it...the catch is, they want those people to retain primarily Mexican identities, so to further influence US policy.

I know several families whose grandparents are illegal, some of their children are legal and some are illegal, and their grandchildren are all legal.

So I guess 'gramps' was too busy to apply for the big amnesty of 1986 ??

They have a 'family business' ??? Why didn't they pay the fines & get legal with the 6/7 "mini amnesties" we've had since 1986 ???

That's 7/8 'chances' these folks have ALREADY HAD (in 20 years)......

getting legal doesn't seem to matter too much to them.

I know of a Mexican Consul that has no intentions of going back to Mexico when his “time is up”. He’s lived in the States for so long he considers it home and that Mexico is a “hole”.

wow a Mexican that will admit Mexico sucks....very rare....

Thanks for the list of Mexican consulates.

A devious mind might consider contacting these consulates anonymously with misinformation, thereby helping them spend the extra money they will be receiving from Mexico intended to be used to demand more benefits and freebies for their illegals here in the United States.

And whose tax dollars will be paying for this expense = of course, yours.

Every American family I know works hard for their money and don't want to be saddled as the welfare department for the Mexican government's failures.

If I am missing something here other than Mexico wanting to pick our pockets, please let me know.

And that was my point. We don’t want failures either, we want successes. And if they’re already here, and successful, it is foolish to kick them out. If they are losers, I have no problem with sending them back to Mexico.

Which goes back to what I said. If you see all Mexicans in the US as losers, it is not the Mexicans that are the problem. But over and over again, I read comments by posters who seem to think that all Mexicans are the problem, which is why they advocate simple, easy to understand, wrong and cruel answers.

Over and over again, they harp on the same wrong ideas:

1) “Non-citizen Mexicans in the US are ‘criminals’.” No, they are not, and I have explained why. If they commit other crimes, they they *are* criminals. But entry is a minor misdemeanor and residency is a civil offense.

2) “If they want to become citizens, they should do it the proper way.” Leaving the US and all their assets here behind, splitting up their families, and waiting 10 or 20 years to *maybe* get citizenship is unreasonable for *anyone*. And yes, it *is* different for those who have never been here, though they shouldn’t have to wait that long either. Either let them in quickly, or not at all. If they are already here, and acting like good citizens, they should be able to stay here and become citizens.

3) “They are a drain on our resources.” No. *Some* of them are a drain on our resources. The rest of them *add* to our resources, including paying all the taxes they *can* pay. Those who *should* stay should also pay their back taxes they couldn’t pay before.

4) “They take away jobs from Americans.” No. Employers who *illegally* employ them do that, and in the process *steal* from both the Mexicans and the US people. Even that is not crystal clear, because some US employers *do* treat their Mexican employees fairly, and will hire Americans to do the same job at the same wage.

There is no reason the US cannot have high standards for its new citizens. We can demand they be employed, that they speak English, that they pay taxes, that they act and behave like good citizens. But abusing good citizens or good people who want to be good citizens is not right. And it is just as important that we do NOT give citizenship to bad people.

And Mexicans, like everybody else, are not all good or bad.

Make all Mexican consulate personnel persona non grata and kick them out of the country immediately.

You are missing the rule of law. You are missing the fact that there is an orderly way to immigrate to this country. You are missing the the fact that when this behavior is rewarded/subsidized you get more of the same. You are missing the fact the the rest of the folks trying to get here the legal way are getting hosed.
Seeing how you threw the race card on the table I will throw the you are also missing most of your brain card on the table.

I honestly don’t understand why you would support illegal actions. If a person steals something and gives it to another person, it still belongs to the original owner. people shouldn’t benefit from a criminal action. Is there a statute of limitations on theft?.

You cannot get much more subversive, fifth column than this on our own soil. We ought PNG a few of their asses from select Consulates right back to Mexico City.

It borders on an act of war against our sovereignty.

There should be a total boycott of US tourism to Mexico, and I think we can start to get Joe Sixpack behind such a movement and hit these bastards right square in the pocketbook.

If legal immigrants to the United States support en masse your proposal for amnesty for those on the contrary who did not obey US immigration law, then I might consider it. Shall we poll them on their thoughts of allowing people to “jump the immigration line” just because they are “good people”? I would be curious about the legal immigrants’ take on this.

The Mexican government has more “Embassies” in the U.S. than many other countries put together.

Its past time we let the Mexicans understand that the U.S. considers the violation of its borders by a foreign nation an act of war, even if done by proxy.

We should kick these parasites out of our country, cut off diplomatic ties with these s.o.b.s and threaten to administer “Yankee Justice” unless they wise up.

If you see all Mexicans in the US as losers...

Stop waving the bloody shirt.

There are many successful Americans of Mexican ancestry. Like most of us, their ancestors came from another country.

So what ? Skin color or ancestry does not make anyone less of an American.

There are millions of parasites who come here to burden social(ist) services and send their cash overseas. They are ILLEGAL and criminals by definition. Unfortunately, many are Mexican and aided and abetted by their disgusting government.

Deport them and their anchor babies forthwith.
