1,300 immigrants deported by feds

In what federal authorities are calling the largest sweep of criminal and fugitive immigrants, federal agents over the past two weeks have arrested more than 1,300 Southland immigrants in their homes, in jails and at work, officials announced Wednesday.

As part of a stepped-up national crackdown on illegal immigrants, five teams of Immigration and Custom Enforcement agents raided homes in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties from Sept. 19 through Tuesday.

Some arrests were easy, while others involved agents peering into clothes dryers or squeezing deep into crawl spaces to find hidden suspects. Most of those arrested were from Mexico, El Salvador and Guatemala.

"Too often in the past, (deportation) orders were ignored and aliens thought that after getting an order of removal they could slip back into society," said Julie Myers, assistant secretary for ICE. "Those days are no longer."

Immigrant-rights groups decried the raids for stirring fear in the community, noting that more than 100 of those arrested had no criminal or court record.

But amid heated public debate and increased political pressure to enforce the country's immigration laws, the agency has waged a high-profile campaign across the country to clamp down on illegal immigrants, last month arresting dozens at McDonald's restaurants in an identity-theft operation.

In the most recent effort, agents combed through law enforcement and online databases and worked with local officials to identify hundreds of criminals here illegally and fugitives who have ignored deportation orders. Fanning out across the region in daylong raids, agents arrested 530 illegals - 269 of whom were identified as criminals and 115 of whom had been ordered deported. The rest were undocumented immigrants who had no criminal records.

The pressure is working on your politicians folks! Don't let up!

The rest were undocumented immigrants who had no criminal records.

All illegal aliens are criminals.

The crackdown is part of a national effort dubbed the Fugitive Operation Program targeting 597,000 immigrants who have been ordered by a judge to leave the country but still remain.

They all should be ordered for deportation.

A modest proposal: why not let “Bounty Hunters” bag the criminal illegals?

My thoughts exactly - kind of paltry at .004%.

Time for ICE to get its’ rear in gear.

It is for show, folks.

Just like Bush's little visit down to the border some months back just to say the right things.

Yet the fence comes along so slow one can CLEARLY see them dragging their heels and playing foolish little games.

When i see a matched employee for each one of those illegal aliens who were working, ALSO go to jail, I will consider things are changing.

But then, one would not throw into JAIL one's campaign contributors.

Amen! I agree; don’t let up on the pressure to our elected officials. The more we scare them, the more will deport themselves. Let’s revive “Operation Wetback”.

$100 a head delivered to the border, alive, in season. The season is Jan 1 to Dec 31, nation wide. Now we have to come up with some mark that is readily visible that IDs them forever.

Immigrant-rights groups decried the raids for stirring fear in the community, noting that more than 100 of those arrested had no criminal or court record.

So those 100 or so had legal documentation allowing them to be in OUR country? Doubt it. IMHO, the immigrant-rights groups criminal alien lovers mean they have no criminal or court record since arriving in OUR country. However, their illegal entry into OUR country automatically makes them a criminal.

The criminal aliens are causing serious damage to OUR country.

Deport their asses post haste.

Build the fence post haste.

Fix the "anchor baby" problem post haste.

Crank it up and shut 'em down post haste.

This is my country! Land of my birth!
This is my country! Grandest on earth!
I pledge thee my allegiance, America, the bold,
For this is my country to have and to hold.
ILLEGAL ALIENS OUT!!

“No criminal record” is leftist liberalspeak for “haven’t been caught yet”.

A) I’m sick of the media referring to them as “immigrants”.

B) Ditto on “immigrant’s rights” groups. A lie & an oxymoron.

We absolutely must control the terminology of this issue or we can never win. We don’t have enough “leaders” forcing the media to use the word illegals.

Deported, or arrested? Big difference, but the headline and article say different things.

Immigrant-rights groups decried the raids for stirring fear in the community, noting that more than 100 of those arrested had no criminal or court record.

So I guess that means that nearly 1,200 of these illegal aliens ALSO had criminal records... So why doesn't the press call these groups what they REALLY are... "Criminal-rights groups."

Sounds good to me. Harness the social forces that exist in this country.

Here’s my standard post. We can do something about this.

RICO —Citizen Recourse

Private persons and entities may initiate civil suits to obtain injunctions and treble damages against enterprises that conspire to or actually violate federal alien smuggling, harboring, or document fraud statutes, under the Racketeer-Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO). The pattern of racketeering activity is defined as commission of two or more of the listed crimes. A RICO enterprise can be any individual legal entity, or a group of individuals who are not a legal entity but are associated in fact, and can include nonprofit associations.

Here’s what I’ve been pushing: it’s time to file Racketeering, Influencing, and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) lawsuits.

RICO lawyers could turn it around in a few years and MAKE MONEY at the same time. I’m surprised they haven’t done it already.

In the absence of enforcement, we can get the word out in the meantime that there is money to be made in filing RICO lawsuits against employers who hire illegal aliens.

Employers would have no trouble shutting down the border if they could get sued by someone under the RICO statutes for hiring these people in the first place. The next time an illegal alien kills someone in a drunk driving accident or somesuch thing, I’m going to point out that the victim’s family might be able to seek compensation from the employer under these statutes in the hopes that it would catch on. If this did catch on, would see such a swift backlash against illegal immigration that no employer would go near these people and they’ll all simply want to go back home.

Good old American enterprise. I would think lawyers would be all over your plan if they can’t find a ambulance to chase.
