NEVADA, Iowa, Oct. 3 Twenty-four minutes after he began speaking in a small restaurant the other day, Fred Thompson brought his remarks to a close with a nod of his head and an expression of thanks to Iowans for allowing him to give my thoughts about some things.
Then he stood face to a face with a silent audience.
Can I have a round of applause? Mr. Thompson said, drawing a rustle of clapping and some laughter.
Well, I had to drag that out of you, he said.
Mr. Thompson is a former United States senator, a television actor and a Watergate investigator. His entry into the presidential race was highly anticipated by many Republicans, who saw or hoped to see in him outsized political talent and a commitment to conservatism that would enliven a Republican field that many found lacking.
But as Mr. Thompson campaigned across Iowa this week, he was something other than the dynamic presence that some in his party have been yearning for. Iowans saw a candidate who is subdued and sonorous, a laconic presence who spoke in soft monotone, threw few elbows and displayed little drive to distinguish himself from his opponents...

He's turning into our John Edwards--expecting to get elected because of his fluffy hair and white teeth.
Idiot.
Well, not exactly.
BFD...
No, I’m heterosexual. Ask my wife.
Duncan who?
Thompson is phoning it in.
He’d better pick up the pace if he wants to beat Giuliani and Romney in the primaries.
Fred just encountered a little bit of that “Iowa Stubborn”:
Oh, there’s nothing halfway
About the Iowa way to treat you,
When we treat you
Which we may not do at all.
There’s an Iowa kind of special
Chip-on-the-shoulder attitude.
We’ve never been without.
That we recall.
We can be cold
As our falling thermometers in December
If you ask about our weather in July.
And we’re so by God stubborn
We could stand touchin’ noses
For a week at a time
And never see eye-to-eye
Ironically, we are both Indians fans. Go Tribe!
A pic I took watching the Tribe play at Oakland on Mother's Day.
Agreed. Thompson and Hunter are my favorites also. Romney has gained my respect but seems a little too corporate. One thing is for sure, we need someone who is charismatic to sweep some Senators and Representatives in along with him because of all the Republican retirements. This is why I lean towards Thompson. Only thing I worry about with him is his involvement in leaking info in the Watergate investigation, if that’s even true.
His heart isn’t in it. He should be having fun with this, but it is like he dreads every moment.
Dude! Spamming us again with that same old lame picture?? Can we not have one thread without you posting that? Get some new material.
Of course, I always seek out the New York Times as a reliable news source.
It’s times like these when I am glad that the daily newspaper is becoming obsolete.
IOWA??????
Who cares. Not me.

Now I have to admit I added electionpresident and fredthompson to the list but the others that are bolded are rather differant to say the least [grin].
“Posting from the Old Grey Whore to prop up Willard, eh?”
The enemy of my enemy....?
Even the lying, smear machine known as the New York Slimes.
No shame whatsoever.
I have reservations about Thompson as well.
Great shot! You must have had either great seats or a great camera.
