Character actor Tom Sizemore will have to go to drug treatment, but he will not have to spend any further time in jail under the terms of a plea agreement he made Wednesday on drug charges.
Sizemore and Jason Salcido, the man he was with when he was arrested in Bakersfield in May, pleaded no contest to a charge of transporting drugs for personal use.
Sizemore will be placed in Proposition 36, a drug therapy program. But if he fails to stay off drugs he could face four years in prison.
His attorney, H.A. Sala, said Sizemore will be released from prison in November for drug charges he faced in Los Angeles.
Sizemore was sentenced to 16 months in prison in Los Angeles County in June because he violated his probation on previous drug charges.
As part of the plea agreement in Kern County, Deputy District Attorney Stephen McNutt dismissed five charges that Sizemore possessed drugs illegally, a charge of vandalism and a charge of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Judge Michael Lewis also limited where Sizemore can be after he is released.
"We don't want you going to bars," Lewis told Sizemore.
"No bars, yessir," Sizemore told the judge.
But he was allowed to enter the Proposition 36 program again because this is a separate case, McNutt said.
All told, he was found with more than three grams of methamphetamines.
Salcido was sentenced to 170 days in jail instead of entering Proposition 36. But with the time he served plus credit for good behavior in jail, he does not have to serve any further time.
McNutt said Salcido and Sizemore could have faced several years in prison if they were convicted on all charges.
Wow he was a good actor...he really messed up his life
I thought he was already in jail for beating up Heidi Fleiss
Hasn’t he had ‘three strikes’ by now.
I enjoyed him in “The Relic”.
He was a great Actor. Too bad he can’t straighten out his life.
Heat was his best movie. I thought he was still in prison?
“Heat”
Sizemore is a helluva actor though. Hollywood can't be all that stressful, you got hot girls and flashing cameras coming at you.
Heat was awesome.
Heat sucked. It was like an hour too long. Saving Private Ryan was much better.
That meth is nasty stuff.
Some get past it, but not many.
I’m in favor of legalization of some things. Not sure about the harder meds like heroin or meth. But then again... Prohibition didn’t stop any of this.
Thank you benevolent Big Brother for saving him from himself.
heat was typical michael mann directing (thinking of heavens gate), too long, but the action sequences were awesome. i agree, ryan was a better film.
Blasmephous!
Ryan was good, 2 different movies, Michael Mann's movies rock, Heat was one of the best crime dramas ever made. Pacino was fierce!
Never stopped SoCons before...
So absolutely pitifully sad.
I invite Free Republicans (FReepers) to pray for this talented actor. I hope my pingees will apply their pinglists.
Thanks in advance, and may God save Tom Sizemore.
Did you by chance read the book? How about the sequel "The Reliquary"? I'm a devoted reader of books by Doug Preston and Lincoln Child, and especially enjoy their series of books that feature FBI Special Agent Aloysius X. L. Pendergast. I'm surprised more of their books haven't been made into movies.
I thought he was excellent in Saving Private Ryan (I think he was nominated for the best supporting actor academy award for it) and Blackhawk Down. Actually I can’t think of a movie I’ve seen him in where he didn’t do a very good job. He is very talented, I hope he gets his life together.
I'm in favor of legalization as well. The prison system is way too overcrowed, mostly with drug users, and consequently repeat violent offenders are let off with minimal time served or no jail time at all because there just isn't enough room for them. Meanwhile you constantly hear stories of people who haven't hurt anyone other than themselves and are doing hard time for simply taking drugs.
