(AP) Cheryll Witz was in the Costco store in Tucson, Ariz., shopping for a birthday cake when her cell phone rang.
Waiting to speak to her was one of the nation's most notorious serial killers the man who five years earlier had killed her father.
"I need to apologize for what I've done to you and your family," Lee Boyd Malvo told her during the Sept. 20 call.
Miss Witz stood, stunned, in the shopping aisle.
"I was standing in the Costco bawling my eyes out," she said.
In March 2002, Malvo fatally shot Miss Witz's father, Jerry Taylor, as he practiced chip shots on a golf course practice green in Arizona. Mr. Taylor's slaying was a precursor to the killing spree that terrorized the D.C. area seven months later.

Hmmm.
(1) The call was a violation of prison rules.
(2) The call may have been made to assuage his conscience or it may have been made to enjoy toying with one of his victims (I'm guessing the latter).
(3) He used the call to spread conspiracy theories and to plant even more doubts and fears in the mind of a victim.
(4) All in all, a very selfish act that exploited a very vulnerable person.

More jail house lawyer pranks assisted by our good friends at ABC. How about arresting the ABC producer who arranged for this phone call. Who is worse Malvo or the vultures seeking a sensational story? Not hard to figure the ABC slant here is it folks?

Dear Spktyr,
"Im sorry. Please dont oppose my parole.
That might be a little tough.
“Malvo already has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in Virginia and Maryland.”

(didn't bother to check just in case it was against the rules)
Flat out effing lie.

His current sentence is life without the possibility of parole.
If the state of VA somehow figures out a way to parole him, he faces life without parole prosecutions in AL, LA, and MD. Any move to parole him would likely trigger an immediate AL call for extradition.

I have to say that the media never did mention to any real capacity that these terrorists have been caught in another domestic murder.
This Tuscon murder is news to me. And it is pre-Iraq war but post-9/11. Murder for hire/jihad. Whatever it “is”, it isn’t a result of US foreign policy.

I may be cold hearted, but if this (explitive deleted) had calledme the answer would have been...
“Are you truly sorry for what you did? Yes? Then go hang yourself and ask God for forgiveness” (slams phone to ground....)

Why in heck does the prison system allow a convicted murderer to contact one of his victims family?

Did they ever find the crazy, right-wing redneck who was really the sniper back in 2002, the one the media perpetuated on us for three weeks?

You mean the gun nuts with the white van?
The DC Sniper Duo were stopped during several of the roadblocks and there was no coordination of information (until after the fact) that this one car had been at several of the shootings.

He turned out to be the "real killer" in the O J trial.
