Fred Thompson on Harry Reids attacks on Rush Limbaugh
Congressional Democrats are trying to divert attention from insulting our military leader in Iraq and pandering to the loony left by attacking Rush Limbaugh. He is one of the strongest supporters of our troops, yet Democrats claim he is not being strong enough. I wonder who General Petraeus and his troops think is most supportive?

When conservatives make valid, factual points, the liberals try to shut us up. I won’t stand for it anymore.

Willard will. Of course, it’s easy for him: not being conservative, he’s unaffected by the suppression.

One of Rush Limbaughs strongest points is his support for the troops. Attacking him on that basis is stupid beyond belief. Not necessarily. Sure it does to us. And factually it is absurd. But one must look at the larger tactics the dems are employing. Bush was invincible on national security and pretty good on Iraq for a while. The dems keep attacking and whittling away. The dem strategy is to constantly attack irregardless of the facts or anything. It panders to their base and unnerves the independents. It gets our side on the defensive defending essentially wife-beater nonsense charges while they stay on the offensive. Also sucks the oxygen from press coverage of their MoveOn problem.
Unfortunately our side hasn't figured out what has been going on for years.

In Rushs words, Mitt Romney threw me under the bus like he did that other guy, Larry Craig.
HUFFINGTON POST:
Now former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney is weighing into the fray. In a statement to the Huffington Post, Romneys spokesman Kevin Madden offered the following on Limbaugh:
Governor Romney would disagree with the negative characterization of those men and women who serve with honor and distinction in the United States Military. There may be disagreements with individual opinions, but no one would ever dispute the fact that those members of the military who disagree with the war have earned the right to express that opinion.

“What a cheap ploy for political points. Fred blatantly gets Limbaugh to advertise him free of charge on his show.”
You are saying Fred GOT Limbaugh to mention him?? Don’t think so! Rush’s people obviously picked up on Fred’s press release, and Rush just read it on air. Fred is the only candidate who has come out with a statement of support to Rush. Sure don’t blame Rush for appreciating it and thanking Fred. Rush certainly can’t thank Rudy, Mitt, or McCain can he?

Mitt was speaking *before* getting the facts and did a CYA. Fred got the facts *first*, then made a statement. Short, sweet and to the point. And guess what? It wasn't all about Fred! ;-)

You are truly ignorant if you do not realize the importance of this attack on one of any American’s most precious rights guaranteed in the Constitution: Freedom of Speech.
If these liberals/demoncrats are successful, they will wipe that and many other rights out of that ‘living document’—
do some research. This is MUCH bigger than just Rush or Savage or Imus, or any other public figure.

Let’s not fight among ourselves. The attack on Rush is an attack on conservative opinion in general. Let’s concentrate on countering against the liberals who want to screw us over.

Thanks for your cogent post and the link you provided. You’re quite right, the stakes are very high now. I just sent Fred a $50 thank-you.

Rush Limbaugh has been a commentator on contemporary conservative thought for over 19 years. He has the largest (by far) radio audience of any talk-radio program. He is a friend of Justice Clarence Thomas.
Not sure if this is a fact, but wiki reports that Justice Thomas actually performed the marriage ceremony between Rush and his third wife Marta! How cool that must have been. :-)

I agree on Hugh. He has been a hugh disappointment with his pimping for Romney. There is a certain schadenfreude in listening to him try to keep it up where Mitt has spent so much and can show so little— 10,000 ads and Fred beats him by 10 or more points. Hugh should stop the bleeding as to his credibility and try some balance. But then, his dreams of working as Mitt’s press secretary a la Tony Snow are at stake as he has cast his lots...

Just his association with that sewer (and I apologize in advance to all sewers for the slur) finishes off Mitt for me.

“Cripes! Romney sounds like Joe Biden here. Nothing like shooting from the lip, Mitt.”
If you heard the Hugh Hewitt show today he comes off terribly as well, he called Romney’s campaign so that they could spend the first portion of the show telling his audience that none of this happened, displaying Romney in a right wing strut, and then Hugh dismissed Fred’s campaign as dead and not in the running.
So Romney’s second response today, which was on the Hugh Hewitt show was a direct insult to Rush and Rush’s show, (even to Rush’s grateful praise of Fred Thompson for standing up and taking the risk he did.
It will be interesting to see the fall out from those of us that listen (used to listen), to both shows.

Beautifully put, Mr. Robinson!! The liberals/demoncrats are getting more and more brazen in their attacks. We have to put a stop to this. Fight for the Freedom of Speech! Fight for the truths of the Constitution! We can’t let them get away with all of the evil things they are trying to do!
