I got tired about hearing how bad this ad was and how unfair it was. Bill Clinton was wagging his finger again about it in defense of the MoveOn.org General Betray Us ad so I decided to see if it's on line. YouTube had it and it's really not that bad. It doesn't question his patriotism at all nor does it compare Cleland to Bin Laden or Saddam Hussein. It did question his leadership and gave specific votes to back up his commitment to supporting the governments actions as opposed to what he was saying to voters.
The YouTube link is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKFYpd0q9nE
Husssssssssssssshhhhhhhh.
You are supposed to believe ABCNNBCBS’s 15-second version of this ad based on the dnc’s faux fax sheets.
No fair looking at the real ad, and the actual circumstances of the charges.
But,what he did with his life after that is laudable.
He was trotted out as a "Viet Nam War Hero" and USED by the Dem's to say "we have HEROES on our side".
This is the same tactic ALWAYS used where a single, unfortunate, suffering soul is trotted out as representative of their issue. (Doesn't matter if it's a handicapped child, serious health problem grandmother, cancer sufferer, etc.), there is no depth to the depraved contortions they will use to get their socialist agenda backed by the un-informed voters they cater to.
What happened to Max Cleland in Vietnam was unfortunate, of course it was. Thank G-d I listened when someone there told me, “if you didn’t drop it, don’t pick it up”.
But when Max Cleland had himself wheeled up to the gates of GWB’s Crawford TX home, in the company of Cindy Sheehan and assorted news crews, and demanded to see the President (who wasn’t there), he was exploiting his war injuries for an agenda.
Was he being used, or was he a participant?
.
Its good to know Stumpy is still in the news. Geez what a daytard. He is right up there with fightin mad webb. As a Virginian and former Marine I am doubly embarrassed by Webb. Stumpy however, does provide comedic relief. The guy blew himself up playing with grenades while drunk. Typical dem war hero - “hold my beer I going try something”.
My first thought in all these "agenda-driven" displays of anti-Bush/TV face-time seekers is "who is funding these activities"?
When the DNC, through Soros' funded front organizations like "Code Pink", "MoveOn.org", "America Coming Together", etc. are paying for their expenses, you can be sure they are being used. Although some have their agenda in mind, they rely on the FUNDING and PROMOTION (MSM) to gain their 15 minutes of fame.
This is disgraceful in that if you're so into making a statement, spend YOUR OWN MONEY to say it!
I'm skeptical about conspiracy theories, but some facts defy dismissal:
Richard Poe writes:
"In 2003, Soros set up a network of privately-owned groups which acts as a shadow or mirror image of the Party. It performs all the functions we would normally expect the real Democratic Party to perform, such as shaping the Party platform, fielding candidates, running campaigns, and so forth. However, it performs these functions under the private supervision of Mr. Soros and his associates.
The Shadow Party derives its power from its ability to raise huge sums of money. By controlling the Democrat pursestrings, the Shadow Party can make or break any Democrat candidate by deciding whether or not to fund him.
During the 2004 election cycle, the Shadow Party raised more than $300 million for Democrat candidates, prompting one of its operatives, MoveOn PAC director Eli Pariser, to declare, Now its our party. We bought it, we own it
New groups form and old ones dissolve. For instance, America Coming Together -- which raised $135 million for Democrat get-out-the-vote drives in 2004 has been mothballed, at least for now. The most active Shadow Party groups today are probably the Center for American Progress, America Votes, Democracy Alliance, the New Democrat Network, the New Politics Institute, ACORN and, of course, MoveOn.org."
Soros has been a lot more trouble than he’s worth.
Become a democrat/socialist and work to destroy the values that made America great in the past? That is laudable? I guess I have a different definition of laudable unless you consider the thief that overcomes handicaps to break into you home and steal your stuff laudable.
This country is in deep, deep do-do, and the Hildabeast will REALLY finish it off when elected in '08.
The only way Hillary can win is with what got her husband elected in 1992: a third party candidate siphoning votes away from her Republican opponent.
For example, if in 2008 Ron Paul suddenly has oodles of TV advertising and a burgeoning campaign staff in many states, we’ll know where to follow the money. In a heartbeat.
Also those polled who will always vote against Hillary, regardless of party affiliation, are only slightly outnumbered by those will vote for Hillary, as presumable Democrats.
In other words, it ain’t over yet.
;^)
For the sake of America, we cannot have the Hildabeast and the stolen furniture/silverware returned to Pennsylvania Avenue.
“the Ross Perot of 2008”
That’s just it! Perot was a gazillionaire who financed his campaign with pocket change, and he knew he didn’t stand a prayer of winning, he just wanted to derail G.H.W. Bush, whom he despised. It was pure vanity on his part.
Right now, the Ron Pauls and Mike Huckabees are campaigning on a shoestring. Again, if one of them is suddenly visible all over TV and voters across the U.S. are receiving his campaign literature, you can be sure the ol’ fixaroo is in, and surer yet where it came from.
Our system is suspicious of third-party candidates because they generally act as spoilers in an election. Now, if Huckabee, say, makes a strong showing in the primaries and his platform has in it what is lacking in the frontrunner’s, then a perfect world is the frontrunner coopting Huckabee’s platform and supporters, or making him the Veep candidate, and they sail on to victory.
I know I’m stating the obvious, but this “I’d rather be right than President” business is a ticket to Clintonian disaster.
OBTW, why would the Clintons return anything that they’d previously stolen from the White House?
;^)
Just remember it was at an air base where he and his buddies had stopped off to have a beer. I don’t think the actual incident involved alcohol. As I understand it after they left the helicopters and were heading in someone’s grenade dropped off the harness and somehow the pin came out and it exploded. The details I’ve been able to obtain are very sketchy at best.
