I've voted for a few candidates that have lost at state and national levels, and let me tell you - it's better to lose on principle than win on compromise. Every time.

Not that I would vote for Rudy whether he stood for abortion or against it anyway, just pointing that out.

If you vote your conscience, you haven’t lost. It’s that simple. My party wins very rarely, and then only locally, but they reflect my beliefs. Should I vote for the “good ol’ boy” Republicans around here that are actually just Republicans so they can get votes? Of course not! Regardless of what few gains I may make, the losses are worse, one of them being that I have to look at myself in the mirror and say, “You helped make it this way” when those “conservatives” support liberal or authoritarian legislation. A vote for a third party is not wasted, it is what you believe.

see, here's my reasoning. I will NOT allow Hillary Clinton to become POTUS without one helluva fight. The woman is dangerous, particularly considering the times in which we live.

The principle here is whether or not she becomes POTUS...Rudy Giuliani would have zero effect on Roe V wade...the Courts will decide that.

Ditto on the 2nd Amendment..particularly since he has already stipulated that he would appoint judges in the mold of Sam Alito and Chief justice Roberts...and, yes, I believe him, even though he is not my first or second choice.

The fact remains, he is a far cry from Hillary Clinton...and the statement that I have seen so often that he is "Hillary-lite" is just so much hyperbole.

Oh, absolutely. I simply won't vote for him just to keep her out of office. It's a difference of mindset - I've never voted "against" anyone. I vote for people.

He is on the wrong side of the following issues, as has been pointed out ad nauseum on this site:

1. Abortion 2. Gun Rights 3. Gay Agenda 4. Fiscal Issues (Increased the size of government dramatically and left a huge deficit when he left office)

And may I add that his so-called WOT experience is a bunch of speeches and attending funerals, which I applaud, but really doesn't amount to much. He is no stronger than most of the other candidates on this issue.

So nice try with the "one-issus voters" slander. It actually a good try on your parts of projection. It is actually Rudy supporters WHO are one-issue voters, the WOT!

Oh and one last parting comment:

The Life issue trumps all else. If your society's culture does not stand for the most basic of all morals and human rights, it is not worth defending. People who are willing to sacrifice this fight because they think they can win by doing so are sick in their souls and not worthy to be put in positions of leadership!

This little lie has been exposed multiple times here on FreeRepublic. When Rudy said this, he included Ruth Bader Ginsburg as an example of a good consitutionlist type of judge. Either he is a complete idiot or he thinks we are complete idiots!

I agree. It irks the heck out of me when many on here oppose Rudy because of any one particular issue. That is absolutely outragous--as one should always look at the 'big picture'.

It ridiculous to oppose him because of one single issue,,,,because if you take a step back,,,,take a deep breath,,,,and closely examine Rudy's positions on everything across the board,,,

Well, not hardly! If we take his own statements like when he states that his positions on the issues are almost identical to Clinton's it kind of negates your statement.

I vote to win the election, not to marry the candidate. The so-called status quo candidates are those who are winning primaries. Why vote for someone who doesn’t have a chance in hell of winning? If it’s all about principle, run a big ad in the NYT professing your principles. That’ll get you more mileage than an obscure vote.
