I don't know what my problem was, but it's a little better now. Basically, I had to do a total reset of Internet Explorer to its original settings and that wiped out a lot of info. Whatver the memory hog that slowed my new windows is gone. However, so are all the FR images and pages and previews and stuff that get buffered and speed things up. I have to wait for these new images to load.
And it's now just the regular FR images -- the Canteen is loaded with its regularly used images!
FR was slow for everyone so it may not have been your computer.
