I don't know about the law, but common courtesy demands that if you fly the flag of a foreign country, you fly the host country's flag alongside it (NOT underneath it). If the situation were reversed, can we doubt that the Mexican people would react strongly?

Don't remind me that embassies and the like generally fly their own country's flag only; they are privileged by accepted usage.

In fact, a Mexican embassy inside the USA is legally part of Mexico’s territory, so flying its own flag there is OK. A restaurant or bar in the USA is not Mexican territory, although some have tried to act as if it were.

I knew that about embassies, but I’m talking about ordinary homes. In our town (at least 50% Hispanic heritage) I sometimes see just the Mexican flag flying. That distresses me.
