Castle Doctrine Law Empowers Miss. Homeowners Against Intruders(3rd times a charm)
WJTV.com ^ | 10-1-7 | Ross Adams

Posted on 10/02/2007 5:56:59 AM PDT by WKB

Within the last week on three separate occasions, Jackson residents have taken up firearms to defend themselves against assailants.

In the most recent case, a man shot and killed 20 year old Kenneth Stewman in the 4900 block of Rosehaven Drive. Police say Swetman and another man were attempting to rob the homeowner.

Police say the man who fired the fatal shot will not be charged in the case.

A state law, known as the Castle Doctrine, allows private citizens to use deadly force to protect their homes, vehicles or businesses from intruders. And since crime is such a problem in Jackson some residents are taking steps to repel would-be burglars. Susan Griffith is a 30 year resident of the Belhaven neighborhood.

She says, "I've actually had two different incidents where I was threatened and I thought its time to learn self defense measures."

Griffith is taking a 21 hour gun safety class on how to correctly fire a handgun. The course is being taught by National Rifle Association-certified Instructor Cliff Cargill. Even though she grew up firing guns in the Delta, but Griffith says the training will give her more confidence with the firearm she may one day have to use to save her life.

Can’t get much clearer than this:

Exodus 22:
2 If a thief is caught breaking in and is struck so that he dies, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed; 3 but if it happens after sunrise, he is guilty of bloodshed.

(I like this part as well)
A thief must certainly make restitution, but if he has nothing, he must be sold to pay for his theft.

See then end of the article. It contains the obligatory notes where the folks that knew the deceased talk about what a promising, smart, funny young man this was and how surprised they are that he did this.

It’s a shame that all criminals had promise at some point in their life and took a wrong turn. I suppose he wasn’t thinking too clearly when he took a handgun on exploits to break into an occupied residents and steal their stuff (or worse). I think it was more than just a bad choice. But that is only my opinion.

Except as a Christian, you should follow the completed laws of the new covenant,(the gospel) not the old covenant( Mosaic law), unless of course you are Jewish.

Christ condemned slavery.

I just love this quote: Tawaii Collins-Buck, an English teacher at Provine High School, where Stewman graduated in 2006, was saddened...

Yep, so are we, hehehehehe! Maybe his accomplice "friend" will decide to go into a different line of work - unfortunately, I doubt it!

22:2 still holds, right? I just found the second part interesting.

I’m not clear on what SHOULD be done with a thief that is unable to make restitution.

The thug's English teacher later goes on to state, "The class would be silent and tense as everyone was working, then, all of a sudden, he would start singing this Akon song"

That right there is one of the biggest problems with our generation and those following our generation: rap/hip-hop music. Music bypasses all senses and goes straight into the application parts of the brain to be stored deeper than most memories. Don't believe me? How did you learn your ABC's? Or, if your grew up in church, or still attend a more old-fashioned church that sings hymns, look through the Bible and see how many Bible verses you've accidentally learned by singing them in church. Satan has used music to preach his message to more people than any other way. Especially rap and hip-hop! It isn't even really hidden behind music anymore; it's a satanic sermon spoken (barely sung) directly to a beat that will ingrain the messaged deep within the brain. Look at anybody who listens to it. In fact, you could take a business man in a shirt-and-tie and place him in a car with a bunch of his colleagues, and if they voluntarily listen to rap music, you will see them within fifteen minutes nodding to the beat and taking on the ghettoish actions of the spirit behind the music such as leaning back sluggishly and using their hands to go along with whats being spoken to them. God created music just for this reason! It was meant for us to take on the likeness of Him through His songs, but like everything God's created - Satan can't invent, he can only pervert what was created by God to use for his purposes to the detriment of society.

Yes, but what do you think about hip-hop music and the people that listen to it?

Christ condemned slavery.

Are you recalling this from a personal discussion? His disciples didn't seem fit to record any such declaration. Or are you quoting "The Gospel of Judas"? I have to admit, I'm not familiar with that one.
