Hate crimes against Muslims jumped by more than 1,600 percent in the following year.

Probably went from 2 to 32, in a country of 300 million.

Probably went from 2 to 32, in a country of 300 million.

You're probably right that the increase is insignificant relatively, which is why the author left out the basis for the statistic and just cited the percentage.

Then there's also the fact that sensitivity toward hate crimes toward Muslims probably increased and many crimes involving Muslim victims may have been classified as a hate crime today, whereas previously it may have not been.

However, given the civil rights record in Muslim dominated countries, it should always be noted in any article about hate crimes involving Muslim victims in the United States, that Muslim terrorists commit hate crimes against non-Muslim civilians on a daily basis throughout the world without there being any repercussions for the perpetrators, and often state sponsored hate crimes in those nations is recognized by parades and celebrations.

As a demographic, Muslims have a long way to go before they can fully rehabilitate their public image, and just being model citizens is NOT sufficient. If Muslims want to fix their public image, they have to start by being the first in line to openly and rigorously reject Extremist and violent Islam. Until they do this as a group, merely pretending to civil activism isn't going to do much.

"How 9/11 changed America: In statistics".

Around 470 soon after the attacks and seems to have stabilized at around 150. Still small, but higher than it was before the attacks.

Also, while the United States has 300 million people, and 150-470 people out of a population of 300 million is tiny, you could also write that the Muslim population of the United States is around 3%, or about 9 million. So, using that, you could write 150-450 crimes out of a population of 9 million, which remains a minuscule amount, but not quite as small as writing 150-450 out of 300 million.

That just means more fabricated complaints were made.

Jihadists commit hate crimes too.

Every act of domestic terrorism (and there have been dozens) was a hate crime.

Islamic supremacists engage in hate speech too.
