Interesting. How credible is Ray Robinson? Does anyone have a handle on him?

It worked. That’s why those camps emptied out.

I remember recent speculation that those camps had emptied out because a big new terror operation in the US was imminent. This piece provides an interesting alternative explanation.

Fantastic article.

And a GREAT reason why all the top Dem. candidates are suddenly not supporting an automatic pull out of Iraq if they should win the White House!!

Even though these scumbag Dems won’t say it outloud, they KNOW our strategy is winning and even they won’t ruin that effort.

Lots of very good OSINT here -
Within the Pak border regions - When discussing Uzbeks (and Chechens).....There are two different groups - You have the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU), led by Tahir Yuldashev - This group is very closely aligned with AQ (and Sr. Taliban) - Yuldashev is believed to sit on the Mujahideen Shura Council - his fighters serve as members of the Black Quard (UBL’s / Zawahiri’s bodyguards) -

The second group of Uzbeks is the IJG/IJU - This is a spliter group that broke off from the IMU (03/04 ish) - This group believes in fighting the “close enemey” first - Meaning taking out the Pak/Musharraff Gov’t - Which has brought plenty of troubles for the Pak border region warlords and Pak-Taliban -

It is Uzbek’s from this group that have mainly been targeted within the Pak border regions (by Pak-Taliban) and forced to move out (and back into Stan).

Now perhaps IMU has tried to come to the defense of their Uzbek IJU/IJG brothers....and moved back into Stan with them (this would be a great turn of events for our side).

Killing capturing Tahir Yuldashev (IMU) leader would be a great success (and a wealth of Intel).

Faqir Muhammad is another big wild card in all this - He has a large following (leader of the TNSM - the Movement for the Implementation of Mohammad’s Sharia Law) - THe TNSM is a banned terrorist movement inside of Pak - Faqir has provided personal shelter for Zawahiri (we are certain of this) - Faqir home village of Damadola (inside Pak) was targeted by both U.S. air strikes as well as a U.S. SOF raid.

Baitullah Mehsud is another of great importance - He is the most powerful Taliban leader in Waziristan - Where does his loyalties today stand with the IMU or IJU/IJG??? (Or AQ for that matter).

One thing is certain....The more movement we get out of these groups....the better. The more pressure we can put on them the better......And if they are made to run back into Stan.....Excellent.

In order to get HVT #1 & 2 (along with Sr. Taliban) we have to be willing to take more risks....cause more havoc/chaos...and HQs have to be much less risk adverse....

The author makes a number of mistakes - too many to mention. For example,

"By way of correlation, you may remember..."

Correlation does not imply causation. In short, the author needs to go back and review statistics (sigh).

This is a very long and very interesting article.

Just a comment. During my working life, I learned that it is much more effective to compose relatively short notes with several points to be made. A series of such notes is just fine. But, to put 20 points into one article is very, very difficult to write coherently and very dificult for most consumers to digest and get the full gist.

It was a great article but would have been better as a series of shorter vignettes.

Like President Bush said, the war against Al Queda is being fought in Iraq. This victory will destroy AQ in the eyes of the ME.
