Astrology services

Won't they need that to figure out what's in the future?

The Astrologers should have known it was coming.

I’m from Mi, I am ok with taxing services- non essential services. And- one house is controlled by Republicans, the other by democrats.

An astrologer won’t be needed

The Democrats passed a service tax in the House without a single Republican vote.

The people of Michigan need to fight this the same way that those of Tennessee fought off the income tax a few years ago - flock to the state capital and protest persistently. Write to the editor of the local papers. Expose the waste. And most important of all, run all the supporters of this (and other) tax out of office. Nothing says “we’ve had enough” like being an unemployed politician.

Let me remind people in Michigan... and the rest of the USA... that the last 8 years of Engler, and the 4 years after that, saw our budget grow from $29 billion to $41 billion. Who was in charge of Michigan all those years? Well, it was the GOP.

Engler and his pals did downsize things in those first few years, but after that went on an orgy of spending. Far from being the “small and efficient” government types, they spend like drunk pig sailors on shore leave.

The poster child of all of this spending was former Speaker of the House Johnson, who was hand-picked to that position. He championed a project where all 6th graders in the State would be given notebook computers. This program survived 3 years, all of which were years when the Legislature was forced to cut per-student spending.

And who went to EDS to sell computer stuff to state governments? Why, it was our old friend Mr. Engler. Gosh, you gotta feed those triplets somehow, don’t you?

The last 6 years, the GOP has done every accounting trick, has spent the tobacco settlement, increased fines and fees (including the simply evil “Driver Responsibility tax”), all while saying that they didn’t raise taxes and were the champions of small government.

Well, this year the shtuff hit the fan. There was no where to hide. Instead of addressing the bloat and waste in government as the party that holds both sides of the Legislature and the Gov’s mansion, we’re left to snivel and work for deals.

When the GOP calls me for a donation, my response will be that I’d be able to make a donation if I had a JOB, and if my family’s budget wasn’t CUT because they failed to cut theirs for 16 years.

Yes, I’m angry. I didn’t leave the GOP in Michigan, they left ME!
