WASHINGTON Some of the top leaders in Christian pro-family activism including James Dobson of Focus on the Family met in Salt Lake City yesterday to plot a strategy if Rudy Giuliani or another supporter of legalized abortion is nominated by the Republican Party as its presidential candidate.
Not only was there a consensus among activists to withhold support for the Republican nominee, there was even discussion about supporting the entry of a new candidate to challenge the frontrunners.
It's no secret that Dobson, founder of one of the largest Christian ministries in the country, has no use for Giuliani.
In June, he said: "I cannot, and will not, vote for Rudy Giuliani in 2008. It is an irrevocable decision. If given a Hobson's Dobson's? choice between him and Sens. Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, I will either cast my ballot for an also-ran or if worse comes to worst not vote in a presidential election for the first time in my adult life. My conscience and my moral convictions will allow me to do nothing else."
Dobson reportedly drove from his headquarters Colorado Springs to the private meeting, held between sessions of the Council for National Policy in Salt Lake City this weekend, just to weigh in with other leaders of family groups, including the Family Research Council, Bott Broadcasting, Capitol Resource Institute, Salem Communications, Eagle Forum and Concerned Women for America

Any Christian who sees fulfillment in the Republican party or any other earthly kingdom is a heretic.
“Because, at that point [of nominating Giuliani], all bets are off, and the GOP as we know it will be history.”
I think the term divide and conquer by the well organized and funded liberal machine keeps muddying the waters. Now when Hillry used the words about Republicans in Congress would make Jesus illegal if they could over immigration, it scared the 'water' out of the GOP power-brokers. So the illegal invasion was planted under the guise of 'compassionate' conservatism or some use 'good Samaritan' for turning a blind eye to a complete transformation of this nation. I am NOT just referring to those south of the border, there are mini communities from all over this globe set up by our government representatives that is just plain FOREIGN to a Constitutional Republic.
The GOP has become so diverse in its willingness to included so many the ideology of conservatism is virtually lost because there is no way to stay true to the Constitution when one must pander tax payers dollars to maintain these diverse communities.
The business community looking for the profit margin are willing to accept the higher tax burden for US all through cheap labor. Another one of those liberal ideas, government is in charge of cost of labor is not being challenged, just a short term attempt to circumvent the law. However, the immediate benefit for their profit margin will in the long term not prosper, these cheap laborers will at some point require union scale wages and there will be some judge some where that will decree they are entitled to life's minimum wage scale and someone will be required to settle that debt.
The GOP has been willing to join the liberals on their social issues to the point that the foundation of what gives US our blessings is so perverted it is hardly recognizable.
Yep. The problems with our government reflect the moral problems in our nation. Gotta fix the foundation before you can fix the house.
Christ told Peter to FISH on the RIGHT side of the boat, and Peter was a natural fisherman and he was NOT fishing for literal FISH. You think it does NOT matter which party is on the RIGHT side of the boat, then who cares who gets elected?
I guess you did not read my whole post? Sheeze!!!
I’m in Shanghai, and it’s 9:45 p.m. (2145 hours) on Sunday night. I am thinking Duncan Hunter and family are in church, or are getting ready to head for a church service somewhere, maybe at their home church. It would be about 0645 hours on Sunday in California now.
Not the Man who said, "my kingdom is not of this world".
And you sir need to dig a little deeper into comprehensive thought.... THE NATIONAL GOP does “NOT” support a candidate during primary time. THE GOP will support the GOP NOMINEE once decided at the Convention.
As for my statement on Conservatism, if that was not plain enough then I can’t help you. Let’s say this, Northerners see Rudy as a Conservative, maybe that is simple enough.
Exactly when did I say I would vote for RUDY??? TELL ME WHEN I POSTED THAT I WOULD VOTE FOR RUDY?
I don’t know who you are but work on reading what a person writes. Thanks !!
Ah, but until that MAN returns He expects at least a remnant to be winnowing the flames of what RIGHT is all about, and that would include casting a vote for a person who is at least advocating the RIGHT.
In 2006 the socialists were able to exploit wedge issues to take control of congress.
In 2008 the trolls are out again trying to give the presidency to the Clintons.
Electing someone like Guiliani is not the same as voting for the socialist Clinton.
It's asinine to even say that.
Actually, He expects His remnant to preach the gospel in and out of season, to be hounded and scorned, to be hated because they are not of this world, and eventually to be crucified upside down in Rome as a witness to His resurrection.
There's nothing in John's gospel or in Acts to suggest that He has any interest whatsoever in Christians as Christians taking the slightest interest in politics.
I believe that Dobson has a solid grip on the situation, and realizes that electing Rudi would, for all practical purposes, be no different than electing Hillary. The abortion issue just gives him traction, but Rudi is wrong on every single issue (other than the WOT, and I don’t trust him to be able to run that).
How much more obvious can you get at why he cannot/will not support Rudi? He specifically stated he could not and would not vote for Rudi because of his stand on core issues, particularly abortion.
To compare Dobson with Martin Luther is odious to me as a Lutheran and a Christian.
Dobson is not a preacher, minister or priest to begin with. He's a licensed psychologist.
He's a well-to-do, smart man who has worked himself into to a position where he has an effective soap box to expound on his particular morals and his particular politics to a large audience who, hopefully, may or may not be buying what he's selling as it did in the past.
Most folks thing he's a man of the cloth, but he isn't. His layman's opinions are his own concoctions and should be given the same consideration and weight as those of any prominent person.......or psychologist. His political power-plays and petty comments are certainly not coming out of a pipeline from God.
In addition, this man who so desperately wants to influence national politics is painting himself into a corner by randomly stabbing the GOP and its candidates in the back.......and he evidently doesn't realize it......yet.
His pot shots (and ego) will come back to haunt him.

This site was mainly started, from what I understand, as an anti - Clinton force. I first came to this site because of banners I saw on TV advertising it during protests. Will the anti - Clinton activism see the perils we face with another Clinton administration, or will the anti - Rudy forces win out? It will be a moment of truth.
I will not entrust the safety of myself, my family, or my country to them again, and I promise to do all in my power to see that that never happens again.
If they know what’s good for them, Republicans had better kowtow to Christians or face the wrath of God.
