Fred Thompson has pulled to within 8 points of Mitt Romney in Iowa, and now occupies 2nd place alone in a new poll out by Newsweek. Below are the numbers from the Newsweek poll taken Sept. 26-27.
Perhaps just as significant as Fred's strong move up, is another set of figures from the Newsweek poll. They asked respondents just how strong they supported their candidate. Here are the numbers for Fred, Mitt, and Rudy, with"Strong" listed first followed by "Not Strong/Lean". . . . .

Hunter is THE MAN IMO.
Paul now has 5 percent, higher than ever. That’s up from less than one percent not so long ago.
“Fred Thompson has pulled to within 8 points of Mitt Romney in Iowa, and now occupies 2nd place alone in a new poll out by Newsweek.”
If Fred wins Iowa, and places in New Hampshire.....he’ll get the nomination.
Hunter is great, truly. How’s he polling these days?

Ooh Boy! The Romney folks are going to take off the gloves now. I expect them to stop being so nice and probably go straight for the kneecaps.

Kind of surprises me this comes from a Newsweek poll. Typically their polls are terrible, and usually favor the Liberal.
I don’t know whether to cheer this or not. I could attribute this to the strength of Thompson’ candidacy that even in newsweek he manages second place. Or merely dismiss it as Newsweek. To be honest, I can’t abandon my belief of newsweek’s polling practices being questionable.
But questionable or not, the buzz from this can’t hurt Thompson. And I do believe between N.H. and Iowa, that Iowa is the best state for Fred to pull an upset. N.H. is too infected with Mass liberals. Iowa actually went the GOP’s way. IMO, Fred’s target should be Iowa, S.C., and Florida. if he gets those three states he’ll most like be the candidate no matter what N.H. does. And certainly getting Iowa would help push momentum his way in Florida since he’s almost assured S.C.
NEOCON GLOBALIST ZIONIST CONSPIRACY!!!
In reality, Paul has 75% /sarc
MSM pundits and talking heads are trying to get between the people who actually make the decisions and Fred Thompson. This poll would indicate that all the peevish petty commentary aimed at Fred is not succeeding.
“I should not vote my consciencse...”
So long as that vote does not give us a Rudy v Hillary “choice.”
No wonder the Axis of Desperation has become so rabid.
That’s an interesting situation.
“Thats an interesting situation.”
I’ve said this before, if Trudy is the nominee vs Hillary! then I as a conservative have no dog in that fight.
OK
Zionism? Your tin foil hat is crooked. I suspect you also believe that in that nonsense that 911 was an "inside job."
My candidate, Ron Paul, has rejected that kind of nonsense.
Paul does not have 75 percent (or even Fred's lackluster 16 percent) but, at 5 percent his support, has quintupled in the last few months.
