There were some tense moments at a U-Haul facility in Tempe on Friday.
A 14-foot truck was returned to the company's Priest Drive location around 3 p.m.
When a manager opened it up, he spotted some items he thought looked suspicious.
According to Vice President of Product and Safety, "It didnt take me long to call people lets put it that way."
Doug Matteson from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office explains what happened next.
"We opened it up, we saw some items that kinda looked linked to suspicious activity we are not saying this is involved with terrorism we saw some items that kinda bring some attention to our Deputies that work anti-terrorism. We called them out to make sure, have them go through everything."
The Sheriff Office confirms there were no guns, explosives, or hazardous materials found in the truck.
They do say there was a messy pile of suspicious documents and files.
There were also some other items that the Sheriffs Office said it was not prepared to comment on.
The FBI says it was aware of the discovery but according to agent Deb McCarley "there is nothing to suggest it is terrorist related."
Investigators will continue combing through the documents and are trying to dig up more information about the person who last rented the truck.
Whenever I read nonsense like this I’m always reminded of a scene from one of the holocaust movies.
If I remember correctly, it’s the look of realization in the eyes of a well dressed Jewish woman from a train full of other well dressed Jews as she steps onto a train platform where a cattle car is also unloading Jews.
From her, you deduce absolutely any ruse or abuse was acceptable so long as it resulted in Jews being delivered to that specific platform.
Look at the light, Rest:’).
reminds me of the Man (and his family) who served this nation
even though he was dead.....
maybe - misdirection?
saying Go look here? While the madmen operate over ....
where? somewhere else?
if there is anything perceived as important.....in the truck
there is always the possibility of a ruse.....
perhaps?
Nothing to see here folks.
Touchdown Texas!
The thing I like about “non-items” is that take up no room.
the second article is a little more / or less vague
Immediately the suspicion falls to Islamists or eco kooks. Also, might most of the "stuff" already been unloaded from the truck.
Maybe clintons Whitewater files that turned up in the trunk of an abandoned car....the garage owner subsequently diseased by instantaneous acceleration into a telegraph pole....tragic........seems his car transmission got stuck in drive when he started it up.
But it cannot be confirmed at this time.
Suggestive of what, incurious minds want to know.
Thanks for this Rushmore.
