No, he is a father. - you are the nethandral
What other 17 year olds do is not pertinent to this. We are talking about him and this case right now.
The father’s actions are entirely appropriate, and I would not convict him were I to sit on that jury.
Far to the contrary, I applaud him.
Neither kid is an adult. The girl is equally responsible for her actions. You act like this boy is a villian who deflowered a virgin.
A girl with a father whose psychological make-up allowed him to beat up this kid probably has one big barrell of father issues which causes her to act out sexually in defiance of the father’s no-doubt abusive home-rule. I bet that father is a self righteous iron fisted brute at home.
She ‘got’ her dad real good! I pity her home life after this.
Dad should take a long look in the mirror and admit his own failure since it was his daughter displaying the lack of moral clarity here. 17 year old boy and 15 year old girl? Did he turn 17 recently and she’s 2 months from hitting 16 perhaps? Would 2 months make that much of a difference? Not really.
Bottom line is that his daughter was involved and not against her will. He needs to own that.
Well, fathers are fathers .. BUT
Is one to believe that this was the first and only time? The kids just happened to cut class early in the school year to go somewhere for sex wherein daughter loses her virginity?
This had likely been going on under dad’s nose for months and he was, or chose to be, oblivious. Dad and daughter can take a little blame here, too.
A year in the slammer for a 17 year old who was ‘doing what comes naturally’ probably for the umpteenth time, seems too much. And, dad is not going to want to see the defense the young man’s lawyers will put on. Emotionally, he probably did what most dads would do or want to do. From a practical standpoint he only made things worse for himself and his daughter, her boyfriend, and everyone involved.
I sure would. Otherwise that's jury nullification. We have laws and adults can't go around beating up 17 year boys - whatever the reason. And the 17 year old will also have to have to be held accountable for his actions as well.
. You're exactly right. Someone a little more sophisticated would have kicked a throw-down gun to the little punk before sending him on to his eternal reward.
