Teen Beaten By Girlfriend's Dad Faces Sex Charge

(AP) WEARE, N.H. First, a father was charged with beating up his daughter's boyfriend last week after learning the two had sex. Now, police are preparing to charge the boy with sexual assault.

The 17-year-old boy from Henniker, who admitted to having sex with his 15-year-old girlfriend, will "absolutely" be charged, police said.

Weare Detective Lou Chatel said the boy will be charged as an adult and could face up to a year in jail.

Both teens admitted to having sex during school hours on Sept. 10, but off school property, Chatel said. That afternoon, he said, the girl's father went to John Stark Regional High School and attacked the boy.

School had just let out and the parking lot was filled with students and parents.

The boy suffered cuts and bruises and received two stitches to his face. The father was charged with simple assault.

It all began that morning when the girl did not show up for her first class, even though she had been seen at school.

School officials searched the building, then put out a school-wide page. When the girl didn't respond, they called her parents.

Principal Michael Turmelle the parents helped search for their daughter, called her cell phone and coordinated with school officials.

The teens returned to school at the same time, through separate doors.

The principal said he's upset at the number of people who have sided with the father.

"We all work so hard to give our kids a safe place to go to," he said. "Any time we have an act of violence, it's very upsetting because it is completely antithetical to what we're trying to accomplish."

The girl and her siblings have transferred to another school, Turmelle said.

What a big tough man you are! You can beat up a kid! Man, you are sooooo scary!

While a 17 year old is not a legal adult, boys of that age have generally reached close to their adult size and strength. If anything, a match between the teen and the middle-age father would generally give the average teen an advantage

I have no way of knowing. I do know that it has always been the responsibility of young men to behave like gentlemen. She is younger and more impressionable and as a minor is acknowledged by the American legal system as being incapable of making serious life altering decisions.

Throughout civilized human history men who are more physically capable and more likely to force themselves on women (rather than the other way around) have been held accountable for their actions in this regard. That’s the way it always has been and should be.

If every underage high school boy was jailed for having sex with his underage high school girlfriend 3/4 of the entire U.S. population of high school boys would be incarcerated. ....at mimimum.

Who bestowed upon you the right to reset the context of the thread? The conversation is fine the way that it is.

Aggressive girls are nothing new.

As a mother of 3 sons , that were all teenagers during a 6 year period, I can support that. I had many conversations "explaining" the rules. My boys would just accept no meant no but not some of the girls.

Girls get pregnant. Boys don’t. Boys walk free of responsibility.

All the more reason for the girl to say no, she has a lot to lose and the boy, if he escapes a beating from her father, usually skates. The father acted on impulse...an understandable impulse, but I know from my own life that acting on impulse is almost always the wrong action.

What a lovely, Christian society we’ve become. Police state/Sharia States of America, more like it.

And the women have no responsibility for their actions is what you have implied here.

Get out of denial and into the modern age.

Daddy’s Little Girl stops being that by the time she is ten years old. You can try and stop them from being exposed to all of the slutty messages that society makes available but the fact is that 13 and 14 year old girls are having sex with other kids. There are plenty of kids who had numerous partners by the time they are 16 years old. Look at the way girls dress today, look at the tools and gadgets available them to communicate and look at the culture they grow up in. 15 year olds are way more advanced then they were 20 years ago.

The legal system that is being applied here is out of synch with the decay of our youth. Charging this kid with a crime makes little sense in light of where things are and it strikes me as a government solution to a problem that too many parents have not done enough to prevent.

You’re talking about a 15 year old girl and a 17 year old boy. maturity wise they are the same(on average). But what are you saying if we backed the clock up six months there would be no problem. Most of the people posting their jiberish would feel the same way if they were both 15. What needs to happen here is this father needs to look at how he’s raising his daughter and the same needs to be said about the boys father. Does this father know that this is the first time for his daughter, probably not. After he’s through beating this kid he still has the same problem of a promiscuous teenage girl.he has solved nothing.

Yeah but....what if this whole thing was the girl’s idea? You can’t attribute adult capacity for decision making to this kid with adolescent hormones...and ignore the girl’s possible enthusiasm for this also.

Therein..the parents of the girl need to look first to themselves and their contribution as to their daughter’s behavior before beating up a 17 year old kid.

Romeo and Juliet should be pulled out of the schools. It contributes to the delinquency of minors.

So you think a principle can keep students from leaving school?

Freely? Yep. Heck, in many states it goes much further and he can have them arrested for not being at the school during the designated hours, even when they were never delivered into his care.

Some of yall are assuming the 17 y/o lost the fight and was just playing around and that the girl was easy. It’s possible that he may have really cared about the girl and knew he did wrong and “allowed” her dad to beat him up.

I suppport same sex education. Keep the focus on academics and developing relationships with your own gender. Plenty of time for the raging hormones to be engaged afterwards. Dress codes are a good thing as well. Plenty of people get dressed to some standard to go to work, no reason schools cannot do the same for their students.
